How to: Pandora's Battery - High Res Pics
@Cyanide: unless the silver wrapping covers the circuit board, DON'T MESS WITH IT! it could potentially be hazardous to your health if you do. if it's around the plastic of the battery so that you'd have to remove it to stick it in the PSP, I would assume it's perfectly okay to remove but otherwise, just don't. |

@FAARIS JUMAN: You prolly shorted out the battery. Think about it. you provide an easier path for the energy to get across and it tried to take it so fast that the friction (or whatever it actually is) caused the smoke. Physics my friend. Physics.
The PSP (at least in my experience) always shows that you have a full battery on start-up so that you shouldn't worry about too much. It does change to the correct battery level after a moment or two though. |

How to: Pandora's Battery - High Res Pics
Rite just spent about an hour opening the battery downloading all the files to do this.............. and my battery looks nothing like any of the pictures in the guide, a couple people mention about having a double sided chip on the top of there psp like mine, and 1 person even had a solution for this to get some chip starting with s or somthing, couldnt find that. could any one with the same battery as me post a picture with what wire they cut.
Much Thnx, |

@LEVANITJ: That's exactly what it's supposed to do. doesn't seem right does it? well it just stays on for as long as you have the battery in. Now's the time to put in the magic memory stick and voila! a CFW flashed PSP!
If I am right about FAARIS JUMAN in that his battery shorted out, it will have almost no juice left. plug in the charger while you down-/upgrade to your CFW and everything should be fine.

I have no pity on anyone who does not follow the directions and kills their battery. There's only one way to do things and that's the right way.

How to: Pandora's Battery - High Res Pics
so u just desolder it to create a pandora battery? that seems simple. but is there any requirments to the the firmware or psp before doing this? and also do i need the magic memory stick and pandora to unbrick/downgrade the psp? or can i just use the pandora by itself? much help appreciated, thanks |

@laughsalot: This is where it gets tricky. Pandora's Battery is the system of the magic memory stick and a "jigkick" battery (battery in service mode). You need both parts of the system to unbrick/downgrade a PSP, however there are multiple methods on how to make both components. The method shown here is for the battery part, or jigkick, and there are at least two other ways to modify the battery without opening it.
-Datel Service tool
-Use a program on another PSP that already has custom firmware
The memory stick can be made with Despertar del Cementario, which I've found to be the most trustworthy of all methods, and by pulling info off of a CFW PSP and messing with something called the elf on your PSP. without going into too much detail, let's just say it gets complicated.
As for the requirements of the PSP/Firmware, there are none except that you don't try to revert back lower than OFW 2.00 if you have a PSP Slim. There's a program called Time Machine that helps with that but that's another story.
I hope this helped. |
