then your mms is not correctly formatted, make sure you use vista, and make sure you take out the memstick and disable usb mode when told so

1. im now on 3.71 m33-2, is there any trick to upgrading to 3.90 cfw?

2. can I now install the oem 4.01 update from sony and still have CFW?

3. not I am looking to install an emulator in this, do I just download something like nesterj and put it in the game folder?

hey im new to this pspmod site and im need of modding my psp. i used ur famous all working guide that popped up first and the getting the pandora battery was pretty wasy..rofl so i thought if that was easy then the magic memory stick should be easier but the download files are somehow damaged or corrupted...personally idk.. do u think u can link me ur file that worked fer u?

I must thank you for this wonderful guide. Every other guide I've found via google had so few steps that made it almost impossible to follow it well. Your guide is by far the best.

I just now have completed the flashing, and will buy a new battery tomorrow (I kinda overdid the wirecutting step (I use slim), and I couldn't rescue the battery. Running on the AC adapter).

You are one of my most revered idols now.

dont think about installing things from sony...for all updates go to Dark-AleX - PSP Developer

@ Hercules: Hi! Upon reading your guide I promptly signed up to this site. Even though I have yet to mod my PSP (I'm at work), your guide is easy to follow and I think I really have a grasp on it.

I have been wanting to mod my PSP since I got it several months ago but was afraid I would brick it through noobish attempts and mistakes. All the guides I found were confusing as hell and I just settled for playing MP3's, Skype, and my lone PSP game: Castlevania X.

However it looks like things will be changing as early as tonight thanks to you. Even so, I have some questions if you would be so gracious to answer.

1. I fully intend to use your guide, however, how did you come across your method of making a Pandora Battery? I'm just curious because every other guide I read involved soldering and/or removing a pin or some other nonsense. I am just curious how you discovered your method.

2. To be clear, I am only to cut along the golden line located INSIDE the blue rectangle that is highlited in your guide, NOT the whole golden line correct?

3. After I make a Slim battery into a Pandora Battery, what becomes of the Pandora Battery? Can it still be charged up? Can it still be used? Do I have to buy another battery to play my PSP on the go?

4. This is probably the most beginner question I can ask but after I successfully follow your guide, what exactly does that mean? Is this process simply opening the door for me to search the net and find applications/programs I want to download w/o fear of non Sony authorized programs bricking my PSP? I'm not exactly sure what this process does to my PSP aside from 'mod' it.

5. Is the term homebrew and Custom Firmware the same thing? If not what is the difference?

6. After I mod my PSP using your guide that pretty much means that I am to never download an OFW update again is that correct? I have to go to a site like Dark Alex's and wait for them to modify the OFW's that come out into CFW's right?
