Quick stupid question about memory cards?

I know this may sound stupid but are the memory cards just plain old SD memory cards that you can use for like camera's etc? I mean can I just go to the shop and buy a 1GB SD card and use it in my PSP or do I have to buy a special PSP memory card? Im finding that Im running out of space with the standard 256Mb card that came with my PSP.

u need "Memory stick pro duos" for the psp. SD cards dont work natively

sd cards are like twice the width of the psp memory cards

they dont work. theres no way around it without buying an adapter and having it sticking out of your psp

Just get a 1 gig pro duo off of ebay for like $20-30.

thats pretty cheap price memory cards get cheaper and cheaper.
