Since I'm starting to see a ton of posts on this subject I thought I'd share a little trick I use. If you purchase an aftermarket analog knob there is a HIGH chance that you will "break" the analog stick component. The reason is due to the aftermarket knobs/nubbs have a longer shaft which you don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize that this adds more torque. So the first time you get over excited your analog component will jam up/stick/break. There are two things you can do to alleaviate/fix this.
The most sensible thing to do:
Get a nail file and shave the shaft height down to the height of the original knob/nubb. If you lost the original then keep filing until you reach the point you have very little clearance between the faceplate and the underside of your knob. BE WARNED - these knobs/nubbs have a smaller inside diameter on the shaft so you really have to put pressure to get the knob to go down on the analog component. So as you are mounting the knob for height clearance testing be careful. Which leads to #2 "Which does void your warranty"
If your analog stick does become stuck and won't let you move in a certain direction then you can remove the PSP faceplate. Once removed you'll see two screws holding the analog stick in place. Remove the two screws. Now you'll see a metal clip on the underside/backside of the analog component. Remove the clip and the circuit board will be loose. Remove it. It will be evident how the two internal componets look like slotted rectangles. The internal part of the stick has slipped out of that "rail". Put it back where it needs to go and reassemble your PSP.

Glad to hear you don't have any problems. Good for you.Originally Posted by thornygravy
This post was meant for people that do and/or eventually will have problems. There are some knob replacement kits sold that are far from "OEM".
How do you "have about 3" anyway? Knob and a half
