I read (supposedly from a source at sony) that the 7 pins shown here may be how sony unbricks thier PSPs. I do not yet have the knowledge on how to map or use these pins. Does anyone know what the pins do, and if they are for flashing how to use them?
Could you perhaps post the link where you've found this?

if given the right schematics for psp plus the program and guide for the pin outs i think we can create a flasher for psp.coz in cellular phones we also flash phones thru pinout cables plus software and gadget...if only we could create a box for psp then there would be no more problem for flashing bricked psp....
take a look at this pics.these are actual pics of some of the gadgets i use in my shop for flashing dead or bricked cellphones....it goes with a software + cables to connect to the phone to the gadget + the gadget itself...different gadgets for different brands...
i hope someone could come up with a clone of flasher just like sony uses.
alfox how the hell do you deal with that many icons on the desktop?
If i understand you correctly, there would need to be some kind of signal you can send through the usb port of a bricked psp and flash it in that way.
But perhaps sony still has to take it apart and physically do something to the mobo? Could such a thing be cir***vented by a flasher?
Also, are there currently any confirmed details as to how sony goes about unbricking psp? Wasn't able to find anything so far..

@urineanus sorry about that.hehehe.i have lots of progies we use for flashing, unlocking and all sorts of things for nokia, sony erricson, motorolla and more....
@amras bro yup your right.coz in the case of motorolla phones when they become bricked all we have to do is connect em to the usb then connect it to the box (the blue one) then open the program then input the flash file then click flash.then the gadget does everything then after flashing unlock then the phone is alive.im sure thats how sony does that....
I have found no confirmed details on how Sony flashes. I believe other groups have nearly ruled out the USB idea, because of the way the port is designed. The most known theory right now is that Sony uses the serial port under the battery, but there is no solid proof, and the serial ports can olso be used for remote controls. I would have posted the soure in the origanal if I could find it. I imediately dismissed it as fake, as there were no pictures and it was the first I had heard of such an idea. I changed my mind when I found these pins exactly as the "Sony" guy had discribed.
bros just to update this thread i have opened a new thread related to this topic but this time its for real now.hehehhe.
