Modchips have helped us out since the reallease of the playstation but do they help in the world of psp modding ?? well thats what is up for disscusion. the main reason people use modchips is for the cheap games (not that i support piracy)
and homebrew. but if you are able to do that without the hastel ofinstalling a mod chip y bother and plus it is free any ways. so give ur reasons for wanting a modchip or not

Mod chipping is only worth it in the primary consoles, its a joke to consider one for a handheld, even if its a psp. Mod chipping for the psp was only used if you were a complete nitwit when doing a re-flash and ruined everything.

I don't like the inflated prices for mod chips these days any how, becomes quite pointless after they're +150usd.

Simply put, chipping a PSP is 100% stupid now. if you asked me the same question a week ago i would say that there was a very good reason to chip your psp (recover from brick or downgrade a 3.51+ fw) but with the publication of NOObs and C+Ds Pandora this is all history....
Silver PSP1000 with double X2 3600mAh batteries and Go!cam running 3.52M33-4 with NYKO Charger Grips (psp on 2200mAh batteries) and a 4GB Sandisk Gaming MS Pro Duo, accompanied by a 120GB Hyperdrive Space.... You gotta love it

Yea, why would you waste money on a chip when you can use software for free and not have to pay for anything(in most cases) unless you had to buy lumines or gta but other than that the skill and risk involved in chipping isnt worth it. I have chipped Xb0x and P$2, soldering and crap, imagine putting a soldering iron near that tiny mobo in the psp.... With exploits you can recover yourself in most cases, you f*ck up a single trace on the mobo and you are screwed and have to pray you can repair the trace. In short chipping isnt worth it!!!
Upgraded My first PSP all the way to 3.51!!! Hell yea, then got online the next night and found out you can mod them, so I yelled as loud as I could with my inside voice WTF?!?!?!?! I sold it to some dork and bought a used one for 80 bucks... So 2 crappy nights and 80 bucks later!!!!!

    2.71>2.8>3.51 M33> 3.52 M33!!! Best 80 bucks I have ever spent!!!

I think there is something coming together for P$3 the 360 chip isnt all that great its just for a disc exploit, nothing like the original xb0x with the upgrading of a HDD and all of that, at least not yet.....

to put it simply at least for me

    PSP: NEVER AGAIN LOL

XBOX: ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO USE IT TO ITS FULL POTENTIAL

PS3: AS FAR AS I KNOW ID GET ONE

PS2: ONLY IF YOU HAVE "BACKED UP" GAMES AND YOU LIKE TO BURN 'EM BACK TO PLAY
