a very small phillips head
i think the size needed for opening the psp is a Size 0 phillips head. you can get a set of eletronics screwdrivers, but make sure theyre quality. the psp screws are pretty shitty and tend to strip
You need a 00 philips screwdriver to remove the faceplate (there are 5 screws to remove), then remove the R trigger button, these just slot in place and are easy to remove. Remove the silver clip that hold the rubber pad in place and clean the contacts on the rubber pad and the ribbon end, they do get dirty. Reassemble carefully, be careful not to overtighten the faceplate screws and all should be fine.

yea mines jammed also. I will be opening it up when I get the screwdriver.

julie wrote a sticky on this.... idk where [id guess hardware] on how to open the psp and fix buttons..... [idk if that sticky covers STUCK buttons but it does cover button the seem STICKY on the inside]
just open it up, there is no need for an in depth tutorial. 4 screws, one way makes them come out one way makes them go in. Make them come out remove the face plate be careful with the lower button bar, dont handle it too roughly, see whats wrong with your button, probably dust and moisture made it sticky take a q-tip or light cloth and clean around it.
Dathan...its 5 screws 4 black and 1 silver one just under the psp logo.
Its all straight forward really.

technically the tutorial was for general repairs and disassembly of the psp. a good remedy for fixing a sticky button is to get a emery board and file the edges of the button so it doesnt contact the area where it protrudes from the case
