I wanna hook up my PSP to an external USB hard drive but from what I'm reading, this cannot be done. Not yet anyway, apart from the DATEL 4GB drive. Saw this on YouTwat. How can this be?

    yeah,
the reason there is only threads about how this can't be down
is because at the moment it can't.
it has been a bit of a side project of mine to do this, but time and money are holding me back at this moment.

There is a way to get it, but you need to find a shell that has a built in mini boot os on to allow this. I heard there was some kind of shell that had this awhile back. Do some research I'm sure you can find it.

Cool thanx I haven't heard about that, heres what i got so far

i know its a cdrom...but ive taken it apart(simple 4 screws and two plastic strips hold it closed) it still holds the original IDE and power cable for use with and HDD of choice.......ataches to a computer with a usb which can be spliced and redone to adapt to the psp cable(also allowing it to be charged via HDD) because it has its own power(albeit a wall socket, but can be adapted for use with a laptop bat in future)

I got the exact model in the pic! Now I know this will be the size of a cdrom but im just leveling the playing ground..........i actually wouldn't mind the size being it is a 200GB that im working with, but thats me!

I like where your going with this. Seeing as the PSP reads the ISO's off the memory stick, what about a mod to extend the memory stick to a hard drive and use the usb to feed power to the HD. basically the memory stick would become just an adapter for the PSP to see the HD instead. I'm stretching here, but I also recall someone saying that the memory stick port will only read up to 32GB. Is that true, if so, forget the rant I just had.

    Prob USBhost....

[edit] i took a closer look (or erm... listen) at this video and im sure its done by pc.. For every game that boots up you can hear XP unmount/mount in the background..... So you can do this as long as you happen to have a working PC in arms reach (ergo USBhost or Nethost) [/edit]
