Help needed with downgrade

Hi guys

Im new to the psp world and after several hours of googling and reading in many different places, Ive become very confused about downgrading my firmware. I have firmware 3.71 and want to downgrade so I can use homebrew games.

I have created a pandoras battery (I removed the case and cut the pin on the chip inside). WHat do I do next? Do i create a magic memory stick? Ive tried doing this but it doesnt seem to be working! Have I damaged my PSP?

Please, I need someone to spell it out for me in simple terms. There is lots of info out there, but most of it assumes you know more than you do!
Any help would be appreciated.

i think its super easy and it doesnt assume you know much. there is also a way to get memory stick working if it didnt work with the first procedure, just read where it says "error fixing"
