just purchased a Silver PSP Slim last Friday and modded the stock battery. I didn't have any problems installing 3.80 m33-5.

Old news but...supposedly Sony did something with the batteries that will no longer allow you to "Pandora" them through software on a CFW PSP.
I just picked up a 3.6V 2200mAh battery but a few days ago and modded it. Didn't have a problem and since I've used it to mod a neighbor's PSP and that is the extended battery kit that I was told was unmoddable by someone on Gamestop. :P

Here's where I heard about it...
N00bz! - Are new Sony batteries Pandora-proof?
I'm pretty sure they're out there as i've seen 3 brand new psp owners post on this site in various threads that their brand new batterie's circuit boards did not look like the ones in the guides, and they didn't know what to do.
