I'm following Hercules' Battery Mod guide. (http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-har...ery-guide.html)
But my battery which came with my phat psp, doesn't look like his pictures. and theres this solid gluey crap all over the poor thing.

I think i found the little chip with the 8 pins (four on each side) that i need to cut. I know i'm supposed to cut just 1, but I don't know which one to cut since my battery looks different to his.

The motherboard of my battery had to be bent up to see the underside where the chip with the 8 pins was located.

    Here's the top for reference.

and here's the underside. The chip I circled in red is the thing I think I'm supposed to be modding. But which pin?

    help?

i dont think thats a real battery, the chip you need to pop on of the pins off of has IC04 next to it
Currently busy with summer stuff, semi-inactive till later

    hope that helps, AJ

I had a similar problem with my phat battery. I have mod'ed 2 slim psps using a slim battery, but the slim battery wont work in the phat psp. So I decided that since my friends phat has 2.81 that I would have to mod it by cutting open his battery, but when i got his open it didnt look anything like the slim one. I found the area I believe I'm supposed to break the pin, it has the same marking as one in another guide except there is no writing on the green part of the motherboard whereas in the picture there was. So I clipped it... here's where the problem came:

Whenever I put in the MMS and then insert the Pandorized Battery the power light, lan light, and the memory access light all come on but the screen doesnt turn on.

Is my friends phat battery just an ancient battery and he needs to get a new one for me to cut open and mod or are all phat batteries the same.

Edit: His battery is a sony brand battery (i believe was standard issue when he bought his psp)

if your using the same MMS you modded the slims with you might have to get an extended boot menu or despertar del cementario so it will unbrick fats as well

You hit the nail on the head. Totally forgot that there were 2 different programs for each. I appreciate the help.
