I don't think it's entirely unlikely, there are always factory defects. If you got it from a local store it wouldn't hurt to return it and get a different one.

I got a brand new 4Gb memory stick out of the box, out in in the psp, formated it. All good right? added an iso backup, it worked. added another it didn't. re dumped it still no go. added a few mp3's some of them showed up as corrupted data. Huh? reformated, added an album. now i have 300 + corrupted files that i cant delete. Reformated, some things worked some didnt. swapped to a 1Gb stick, my magic stick, all iso's that didn't work worked. no mp3 problems, no issues at all.
Long story short question. Is it possible to have a kinda bad memory stick or am i officially losing my mind?![]()

internet purchase, always a pain in rass to return stuff. its like the internet stores scan this crap somehow and only sell the stuff that comes up broke.
it just drove me nuts for like a week. Nothing worked right. i thought I screwed something up. re flashed the firmware and everything thinking that was the problem.
where did you get it? (what site)

e bay. the thing is definately not a fake. it came with the stick adapter and all the sony logos all over the place. I just learned a lesson I guess. maybe it was exposed to high heat or something?
return it.
just because it has sony logos all over doesnt make it real. mine has sony all over the adapter and stick, and its a fake (works fine tho)
