soooooo....i'm thinking about putting some LEDs under the d-pad and buttons and maybe the home bar buttons too [i don't have the clear buttons yet so i'm kinda far from doing the project].

anyways i just went to radioshack to buy the stuff and make sure i'm all ready and everything and then i realized i have no idea what i need. the list i went with [30AWG Magnet Wire (enamel coated) (NOT 30AWG Kynar), 0603 SMD LED's, 10 Ohm Resistor for 4 blue] wasn't much help at all.

here's what i ended up leaving the store with [hopefully i got some of it right]:

enamel coated magnet wire 22 ga, 26 ga, and 30 ga [btw what is "ga"?],

10 ohm 1/8 watt resistors [how many watts do i need? 10 ohm had 1/8 and 1/4],

and a super huge LED [radioshack man said they don't go by model numbers so the 0603 was kind of a wtf][i figured it's not the kind in the tutorials but maybe somebody knows why i can't put this one in. the back of the package says 350mcd[intensity], 465nm-470nm[wavelength], 154degree viewing angle, 20mA FW current, 3.2V [typical], 3.8V [max] FW supply].

and radioshack didn't have very small LEDs [like the tiny ones in the tutorials].

so my question is this: can i use what i have? why not? what do i need?

[a more specific list would be greatly appreciated]

why does everyone on this site want to use enamel coated 30awg, kynar is better. The enamel coating can scratch off pretty easily and cause shorts.
