PSP Won't Mod? XP, Tried Holding L, etc.

Here is what I have to work with:
Pandora's Battery
MMC - Made with Rains or with Catb50 Teams
PSP Slim 2001 Black (Just bought) with 5.02 Firmware
XP Pro PC - Even attempted to run as admin

Now, I stick in the MMC and then stick in the battery, green light black screen, no side lights.

Do the same holding L, same effect

Insert Battery first, same effect

Punt across living room, same effect

you either made ur mms wrong or u got an unhackable psp
ive got 2 guides u can try best mms guide or cfw easy guide both go through 2 different options to install mms

Alright, how can I tell if I am unhackable?

I know the card is right, I happen to have my cousins (semi-busted PSP, dead screen) but it makes the startup sounds when I throw the stuff into his.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just returned it and got an older one from Gamestop. Works great now.
