I was curious if you can build a working PSP from other broken PSP's? I would assume you can as long as you build it with working parts but I wanted to ask if someone knows if you can for sure build one and can you intermix 1k parts with a 2k psp and vice versa? Like put a 1k mobo with a 2k lcd screen?

Making sure both PSP's are the same will help with compatability issues. Different motherboards are different, and it is best to keep it all the same.

But to answer your question as simply as I can... yes, you can make as many good PSP's as you want out of broken ones. I make extra income on the side doing just that.

Thanks for the reply, have you run into compatibility issues using different parts from different versions of the machine?

For example, using a ta-082 or ta-086 where you previous had a ta-079. This will cause the sound to not work. Various other combinations will yield non-working wifi, sound, etc.

Any 100x screen should work on any 100x. I think a 200x screen is a 200x screen but I'm not sure on that. I don't mess around with Slims too much, just phatties.

I just received my first PSP. Actually, I hacked it together out of three non-working ones. I bought one off of eBay and two off of Craigslist. I *DID* make sure I was getting the same motherboards and the likes. I now have an fully functioning PSP. I purchased about $20 of stuff from DX -- and for a grand total of $60, I have a perfect PSP.

I'm still waiting for the stuff from DX -- but I've gone this long without a PSP, I can certainly wait another couple of weeks. My Pandora and housing replacement kit shipped today.

So again -- I made absolutely sure that the parts (broken PSPs) were all identical, and I also looked for certain broken bits that could be replaced somewhat inexpensively. But three PSPs made a solid working one -- with a shoebox of leftover spare parts.

Yea I bought 5 off of Ebay and got 2 working and sold the other 3 back on Ebay. My total was about $75 for both of them after selling the other three. $37.50 isnt bad for each PSP lol.

Make sure you hold on to that shoebox full of PSP parts. You never know when you might need some silly little piece, and having it right there is better than waiting a week to get it from DX.
