Hi, I am about to buy a used PSP tomorrow and have a few questions that I know have probably been answered.

1)What exactly do I need to have in order to mod my PSP to play homebrew games, movies, maybe ISO's (I haven't decided yet), etc.? I'm talking about physical stuff like memory sticks. A friend who has a modded PSP said you need to have at least 1 real UMD game in the system to play other ripped games, is that true? There are only 2 or 3 PSP games I even want to play (I mainly want the PSP for homebrew and to watch movies on the go and don't want to buy a iPod Video).

2)Is there a easy way to tell which PSP-2000's are capable of being modded? I don't want to have to buy one to figure it out. If I can't find one I will just get a PSP-1000.

3)Is there step by step instructions here on modding a PSP? I thought about asking at GameFAQs, but some other users warned that the mods there have starting banning people just for talking about CFW (even if it's just legal homebrew they are talking about and not pirated stuff). Also, is it allowed here to talk about pirated games? I don't want to talk about that stuff and then get in trouble.

    1. You need custom firmware thus, a pandora battery and magic memory stick.
    2. Black slim (latest version) is unhackable so far. (Get a 1000 trust me)
    3. Same as number one, you'll need a pandora battery and magic memory stick.

Do I have to have a Pandora battery to get custom firmware? I would prefer not buying one and making my own seems kind of risky.

Yes its all you need, but your your making it yourself then you'll need a spare battery so that it can run normal. For the mms technically you only need one memory stick. Just keep changing it back to a mms but it just takes time. Its is risky making your own pandora especially for first timers.

This one says Pandora is the only way with firmware 3.5 and up. I take it that means there is another way to get CFW if I get a PSP with an older firmware than that?
