This is my first post, ive mainly been a firmware modder and never messed with hardware. But Ive seen the case/shell of the 3000 model and i love it. But id never replace my 2000 with it. I was wondering if its possible to gut a 3000 and put a 2000 in it. I havent found any info on this and was hoping someone had the same crazy idea. It would be even better if it could be done with keeping the built in mic. But id appreciate if anyone could put this question to rest for me

i dont think that will work cuz the 3000 is slightly slimmer than the 2000

my friends keep thinking the 3000 is thicker than the 2000. I havent noticed. But i was still wondering if there was a way. I have the white starwars psp and it was great at first cause it was like, Hey its starwars. but as time went on i noticed just how flimsy the system felt. I compared it to the god of war model, then the madden model and i dont know if its the plastic or what, but the white model feels like a light hollow toy in comparison. The 3000 feels solid and i guess i just rather have that. I might end up ordering a new case, but i think it would be amazingly fun to shove a 2000 in a 3000. I just dont want to spend the 150 i need for a used one to find out lol.

It would be nice to have a 3000 period. just because of the screen is way better. It hasn't been hacked yet, but sure it will happen. Have they stopped anybody on any other system? I'm also sure if you can get the 2000 in 3000 case (i don't know the size specs) you could probably utilize the mic somehow. They have the headset for the others. I'm sure you could integrate the mic with some hardware modification. Don't quote me though.

So i did some more research on the difference in the two screens. The 3000 screen has five times the contrast ratio. added gamut (color spectrum and light) and faster response time. With a sacrifice of color saturation in, i think older games. Even though the the screen is somewhat anti glare its still not perfect. So some of the improvements are great not too much better than the 2000. From all the screen shots i did see the screen looks a lot more vivid. The psp 3000 might have a new tool called the "lite blue" kind of like the pandora. Check it out. let me know what you think.

    screen is good.
you can only see scanlines when taking any sort pictures of the psp. other than that they are hardly visible.

    Scanlines:
If you hold the PSP-3000 close to your face and then tilt the PSP back and forth, you might see lines for a split second after blinking. I didn’t see them during regular use at all. Some people even noticed that you could see scanlines on some of the photos of the PSP-3000 on the net. I can’t confirm that the lines are visible on a static screen, if I don’t move the PSP around whilst holding it close to my eyes then I just don’t see them.
You can actually simulate the effect on a PSP-1000 if you want (might work on the 2000 too). Just turn the screen 90 degrees from a horizontal to vertical position and hold it close in front of you eyes. Relax your eyes and just stare as if you’re looking at the wall behind the PSP. Now start tilting the PSP back and forth whilst blinking you eyes. Keep doing this for a while. Did you notice the dark and light lines that sometimes appear after you open your eyes? Well that’s exactly what everybody is talking about. Big deal huh?
The only reason that I can come up with to explain why some people are so annoyed by this is that their eyes must be more prone to seeing it than mine are…

    Interlacing:
As for the interlacing effect on fast moving images; it’s most apparent on the XMB icons when you scroll through them sideways. I was expecting the whole screen to be covered with lines going by what others have said, but the issue has been blown way out of proportion if you ask me. The interlacing is visible around the icons when they move but I really don’t see what the fuss is about, it isn’t that bad! I didn’t see any interlacing in any of my games.
Want to see the interlacing on the PSP-1000? (might work on the 2000 too). Sure you do ;o) Okay so start by setting the dark blue theme on the XMB.Go all the way to the left to the “Video Setting” icon. Focus your eyes on the left side of the icon and now press the right arrow to side scroll through the icons all the way to the right. Keep focusing on the point where the left side of the video icon was. Don’t look at the icon itself but rather at the blue XMB background where the left side of the icon was. Do it a few times, left to right….see that!!? Did you see the white lines on the blue background? Well that’s what you’ll see on the PSP-3000 but it’ll be more apparent. Big deal? Not if you ask me.

    Ghosting:
Is still there but much, much less apparent. Funnily enough, ghosting was the issue that annoyed me the least on the PSP-1000. That is until I went back to the PSP-1000 after having used the 3000 for a day! The ghosting just popped out so badly after I went back to the 1000. And that’s the exact reason I kept the PSP-3000.
If I compare the scanline and the interlacing with the ghosting, then I definitely choose for the interlacing as apposed to the ghosting!

Thanks for linking that page Barnsey, i couldnt find any similar topic when i checked acidmods but its all a matter of what to search for I guess. Im still going through their conversation but it seemed brief. Mainly talking about having to round out the buttons at the bottom of the psp in order to make it fit. Im surprised no ones done it already though and posted it as a tutorial. Guess theres just not as much interest. I thought there would be at least in the mic
