Battery troubles

Okay...My battery has been giving me some trouble as of late. Currently, my system won't recognize that the battery is in. Any chance I can fix this without shelling out for a new battery? I am using a Sony 2200MAh extended life battery currently in a PSP Fat.

EDIT: It seems I FUBAR'd the Li-Ion cell in the pack. I'm going to see if I can replace it with another cell for less than the cost of a whole new pack.
