    Hi
I have a PSP phat which my friend got around feb of '07. He beat it up and it won't read umd anymore, so I inherited it. The only way to play games and run apps is homebrew, which s way better than what you can get on UMD. I was planning on making a pandora battery hardmod, but when I opened up the battery, the mobo was a small strip on top in line with the pins. I am also unable to separate the silver thing from the back part of the cover because of glue (thought maybe something of interest might be hiding under there). If I am able to, I would like to hardmod this battery, that would be nice, but if it is one of those un-pandorizable ones, I want to know so I can perhaps get one online. I don't understand why it would be one of the unmoddable ones if it is several years old, but I guess anything is possible with sony's anal attitude to homebrew. Any ideas welcome...
    Thanks,

Did it perhaps look like this?

BTW, I have heard tell that certain PSPs have a 'TA-082' mobo or something like that, and that they are easily bricked, I'm not sure. Did the PSP phat have this mobo, or was it only in slims? I don't have a memstick reader or another psp at my disposal, incase I brick it, so I want to avoid it as much as possible

It's the TA-88v3 mobo....Its only in the newer slim PSP models....It doesn't make it easier to get bricked, the pandora method just doesn't work on these motherboards.

But since you have a Phat, your PSP will be easily hacked via your Pandora battery and Magic Memory Stick.

My battery had a ~50% charge left when I tried to cut the pin, and a puff of smoke appeared. should it have been fully drained? also, if the PSP still starts normally was I succesful in pandorizing it? any hlp appreciated

or if it's not pass fw ver 5.03, upgrade to 5.03, use ChickHEN and Hell Cats Flash Recovery to install cfw

It is at 6.00, but I have heard of a 'freeplay' exploit which worked on the PSPgo, perhaps that would also work on the 1001? only problem is, the UMD is not functioning on this mchine, and the exploit involved a savegame. I don't really want to download anything illegally

Oh. Do you know if anyone has or might be developing other exploits for 6.00? I have no access to a pandora's battery and I am no oonger able to mae mine into one, the spark that caused the puff of smoke seems to have permanently soldered the pin onto the board.

No, as far as anyone knows, theres no information of any exploit for any firmware above 5.03 ChickHEN....Team Typhoon found a universal exploit, as in it works on every firmware, including the PSP Go, but that won't be released or leaked for a long time, if ever.....

Best bet is buying one online if you can't convert yours.....

Ok. Thanks for the help. one thing is for sure, I am NOT upgrading my firmware any more, as I found out about chickHEN after i had upgraded form 5.03 to 6.00, and got very cranky that day. I am a teenager, and cannot buy online, and my father already said he wouldn't get one, but there is a chance in the future of my friends getting one, hopefully they would let me use it.
