i stumbled upon this page and since i was planning on getting gradius and street fighter alpha 3 max, i thought this looked like a good, safe idea
http://ufighterx.com/guides/videogam...pspdpadfix.htm
i was careful to do everything exactly how it said in the online guide, but a strange problem has come up
i think the analog is somehow stuck in the down-right position, the nub itself is not stuck, but the psp thinks it's constantly stuck in the down right
the funny thing is i was careful not to touch the analog assembly, or the place it attaches to, yet this happened
there are zero problems with the d pad though, lumines plays flawlessly (can only use the d pad on that game), but games like gradius are stuck
i dont think the problem is with the analog assembly itself. i followed a guide to take out the analog assembly, and even as the psp plays with the faceplate and all buttons, the d pad, and the analog off, it's still stuck as down-right on the analog
something very small must have happened to have gotten it stuck, would you guys happen to have any suggestions of things i could try to fix this?? the d pad feels really good, but the analog is getting really annoying and i want to play gradius badly :'(
since u opened the system, u cant send it back to sony to get repaired.. i dont know what to tell u
that sucks dude...thats why i wouldnt take my psp apart![]()

just pop it open again. The smallest things can happen. I opened up a PSone remote a couple months back, and the L2 button was constantly getting stuck because it was pulled downward (not inward tho). I just took it apart today cause you reminded me, and i fixed it. It just wasn't lined up right with the casing. Hoped that helped. I'll keep thinking...
well, my friend who's got friends blah blah... says that something's probabyly stuck where the analog sensors are, an air duster might solve the problem, but if that doesnt, i was thinking of trying this

does this look legitimate?? the site says you dont have to pay for the repair until they diagnose the problem, and it promises feedback on all they do to repair it and all that jazz
i dont want to send my psp and have it stolen
YES!!! I FIXED IT!!!!
ok, if you open your psp up, you'll notice that the analog nub isnt connected to the motherboard by any wires, 4 tiny metal tabs have to make contact with a solid, jelly like substance that has 4 small wires running from it, to 4 metal tabs on the motherboard
if ANYTHING, even a particle of dust is on the tab, it will misfire sometimes or get stuck (the psp will think you're pressing a direction when you really arent)
it also does this if the screws arent tightened completely, even a tiny bit of slack in the screws means it has a good chance of misfiring and getting misalligned
i just used an airduster over the interior of the psp and tightened all the screws holding the faceplate on the psp, now it works fine, no problems whatsoever
well, technically you can send something back to sony to fix that you have opened, it just won't be under warrantee and you have to pay
but be aware sony will upgrade your psp to latest firmware if you send it bk to themOriginally Posted by n8thegr8

that's why you downgrade, or get a new motherboardOriginally Posted by bond109
Yea, but take note that 2.7+ can NOT be downgraded. And when he said you wil get the latest Firmware, he means probably 2.7+. So you can't downgrade thatOriginally Posted by Exar Kun
But yes you could get another motherboard, but that would be a shit load of work.

it's not really that hard to replace a mobo, just expensive. To buy a new mobo, it's usually around $75-$80, when you can usually pick up a psp with a busted screen on ebay for around $50-$60. replacing the mobo in the psp is much like doing the same in a pc. all you have to do is dissassemble it, unplug all of the components, plug the new mobo in, button it up, and presto, unbricked psp.
