Pretty good idea. your psp would be more like PSX console if you take the a.stick off. or.........have to analog stick on it >=)

hey guys, im working on a project right now. i am adding another set of the stock sony PSP 2K speakers to my psp. this mod involves the removal of the analog stick and adding a speaker into the hole where it was located, and then drilling a matching hole on the opposite side and adding yet another speaker. you might be asking 2 questions right now:
Q) why are you removing the analog stick?
A) i use this psp pretty much just for racing games, and the racing games i play on it do not require an analog stick, nor do i ever really use it, so its removal isnt a concern to me!
Q) why are you putting the speakers in the front, and not in the umd drive like others have?
A) because i want the sound directed at me, not away from me!
i should have the majority of this done today, right now i have only started on working on the speaker mounting in the new positions. sofar it is looking promising. the charge port will need to be relocated, unless i decided to remove it and use usb charging for it.
ill post back once some progress has been made

nice post her huh..
can you upload some pics in here once you've finished doing this modifications??
yes i will upload pics, i will probably do a sound comparison of a stock speaker psp and the moddified one over on tinychat so you can her the difference.
nero, i had thought about dual nubs. if the speaker mod doesnt work, or i decide later i i dont like it then it would already be 80% ready for dual nubs!
the main goal here is for more sound while playing wipeout! the techno tracks are killer when your jamming out to them while blasting other ships!
Sounds really good! I havn't forgotten about my battery mod, I just havn't posted about it in a while. I am working on getting a second psp to do this on because I am using my main psp right now to rip my UMD's and I can't make myself remove it. As soon as I get the other psp I will start working on getting the plans/parts together to do my mod!
I will post pics of my mod when finished.
well aparently the pic is to large to upload to the site even though it is horribly shitty quality. so it looks like pic arent a option right now. i got the second hole drilled and i am about to start working on mounting and wiring the speakers in place. wish i could upload pics.
i dont have a photobucket account. it is mostly done now. the speakers are installed and mounted just have a little cosmetic work to do. sofar though it doesnt seem to be much louder, i gotta make sure there isnt a crossed wire somewhere. also having an issue with the left trigger giving constant input, so i gotta figure out that issue aswell
Speaker mods are dumb, and usually make the PSP look like ass. They're incredibly tacky. And they do what, exactly? Slightly improve the audio quality of a device with already decent speakers? The PSP isn't a Nokia cell phone; the current sound system is plenty good for gaming, movies, and music.
Just my opinion on the matter, take it or leave it.

I think you should have found better speakers than the normal sony ones...
dude, i just called Dr. Dre, he's asking me to put BEATS on his PSP.
fuck me? >naaaah, hate me.
i scrapped the project. got it all done and only had a slight sound increase. so now i have an extra hole in the front of my psp, looks like i will be adding dual nubs to it after all. i did still add another speaker to it. and to answer your question classy it actually did add alot of sound. i used a speaker tht is roughly 1.5" diameter, it is out of the ihome usb powered speaker for ipods. i took the top half of the ihome off and mounted it to the umd door dirctly on the silver ring. the size is perfect. for the audio connection i bridged the speaker using both of the other speakers, i used left positive, and right negative. doing this doubles the sound output. and i gotta say it is really loud now. ill get pics later and post them on photo bucket, or if anyone wants to get on tiny chat later i will play some audio for you to hear it.
