If it was out use for 3-4 it might be as simple as the battery might be shot. Try another battery.

Edit: Instead of starting a new thread I decided to just edit this one. I've solved the problems regarding the PSP not turning on and the on/off switch problem.
Now I have a problem with the analog stick. There are two common occurances. The stick either gets stuck holding down or pushing the stick to the right doesn't work. Is there a way for me to determine if I need to purchase a new analog stick or if it's a bigger problem? Sometimes I'll be able to play without the stick screwing up but it usually happens.
Hi everyone, I have a PSP 1001 that's been out of use for 3-4 years now. The power switch broke a long time ago and just recently I decided to try and fix it. Before I did anything I plugged in the PSP with the original battery and the green light came on. After I popped the board out and put the replacement in the green light doesn't come on at all even when I connect the charger. I was wondering where I should go from here to fix it.
When I checked the common questions thread it merely said check the connection between the mobo and the charger or something. However, that does not answer what I should be looking for or how to fix a problem if it exists.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply, however if it was simple as the battery being shot why would the green charge light or whatever turn on before I did anything and then stop working after I tried to fix the power switch board. I'm pretty sure it's not the battery and I somehow messed something up but I don't know what to look for.
Its been a little while since I have had my psp apart but after I put my psp back together I had to press the on switch a certain way so it would boot up.
I would try that and if you still have it apart I would try just pushing that switch while you have the face plate off to make sure its pushing it hard enough.
Be careful though of working on any electronics while they are plugged in though....just my disclaimer
One other thing. If none of that helps you could take some pictures of all the connections and we might be able to help you out better.
Also you could double check where the power board plugs into the mother board just to make sure its plugged in good enough. Sometimes those things are a little difficult to get right.

Hi Flash 0, thanks for all your help but I figured out the problem just a few minutes ago. For all intents and purposes my PSP is "fixed" but now I've run into a new problem. The "tab" that you push up on to turn on/off/put the PSP into standby no longer pushes that bit on the board up enough to turn the PSP on. Any one have any ideas on how I can possibly fix this? If I just take the faceplate off and push up the tab myself it'll turn on no problem but that's not a reasonable solution for a device I plan to use on the go.
I'm bumping this because I have a new problem. The part in bold on the first post is my new question.
Are you talking about the analog stick?

Take the faceplate off and clean the silicone contact and contacts on the mobo with alcohol. Now when you place the silicone contacts back in, make sure that the tiny copper wires inside of it are facing straight up and down.
The faceplate on a 1000 needs to be snug and all screws need to be present so as to facilitate a good contact between the Analog stick/silicone contact/mobo.

I agree that people lash out in rage, or make sarcastic comments in case of rage. School and road rage instances are very common and easily seen. I am a kind of a person who does not book such kind of lash outs and rages.
