Hello,
Before I start, just want to say that I think this forums here are great! I'm just starting to mess around with my psp, and I've spent many late nights reading these threads to find out what it's true potential was. The moderators/senior members, etc. here are very knowledgable, and the tutorials are definitely easy to follow. I'm also VERY familiar with the "Search" button! Which leads to my question...
I converted my ps1 copy of final fantasy 7 to an eboot, and loaded it in my game folder (3.40 oe-a). It loads and plays fine, but then I get to a certain point where I get in a battle, the enemy does a magic attack, and I get the green and white scrambled screen. Happens appxominately the same time every time. From my searching, it looks like everyone's leaning towards a bad rip/eboot or bad quality of the disc. Some claimed to have a perfectly working copy.
I have two different sets of the game, I have tried both. Oddly enough, the disc that did not have any read errors left me stuck during a movie scene and wouldn't go past that. That is when I tried the other disc 1, which is the one I'm playing now. It had about 4 read errors, but it got me farther in the game, up to this point. I've tried multiple re-ripps for both sets.
FYI, I changed the clock speed to 333, set to Use No UMD, even though I've tried it with a game umd in the slot. I've reformatted my MS at FAT16, but I don't know if it matters, only 1gb (real).
So is it possibly to have a perfectly working copy of this game, or in fact any other ps1 game? Are these symptoms just part of the whole package, or is there a way to prevent this? I don't have a problem buying a new set to see if that'll work. On the other side, and I'm sure some will agree with me, I don't want to put in XX amount of hours into a game, and not be able to finish it. Just give it to me straight, I can handle it. =)
Thanks for all the help and knowledge!

Me too, if you switch back to 3.03 though the game save you've got for 3.40 won't work I've heard. Can you converted it back like you converted your 3.03 to 3.40 when you started it on the new firmware.
You are right it won't work i made a backup of my save before i upgraded to 3.40 0e so i didnt have a problem.
ok can anyone tell me WHY and how on earth people can get their FF7 game working at the beginning when the intro movie freezes, umm wait actually so you know is it possible to get the PAL version working on it cause thats what i have.

yeah, if you upgrade to 3.52M33-4 there shouldnt be a problem playing those games, hmm its kinda wierd how a lot of people have the same problem with ff games, aww well, just upgrade and youll be fine
I'm playing fine with 3.52m33-4 and 3.71 m33-3
3.52 m33-4 is the best. its so good that they don't need to come up with a 3.52 m33-5
3.52M33-4 is really the best because it does everything needed, there isnt a reason to go any further, it playes the backups, the homebrew etc with no prblem,
