Xenogears work during disc 1-2 transition?

I was just wondering if anyone had gotten to disc 2 on Xenogears using the PSP, and if it let you save before prompting for the disc switch?

Just curiouse if I'm going to have the same issues as with Metal Gear Solid, or if it works fine like the Final Fantasy games.
