SOURCE:Dark AleX's USB Version Fake: avoid firmware version check on PSN - PS3 News, Wii News, Xbox 360 News, PSP News and more!
It's not 4.05 M33 just yet, but Dark AleX has released a new plugin that could prove pretty useful to those who frequently download stuff for their PSPs from the PlayStation Store.
This new plugin is called USB Version Fake. As you can probably gather from the name, this plugin fakes the version that the PSP reports when it's connected to either a PC or a PS3. It should let users avoid the firmware version check on the PSN downloader.
By default, the firmware version is set to 4.05, but according to the readme (which you should really check before you install this plugin), you can easily set it to whatever version you need. Installation and usage instructions are also included in the readme. Keep checking back here for updates.
FROM THE README.TXT
What's this?
This is a plugin to fake the version that the psp reports via usb to the PC and PS3.
This plugin has been made mainly to avoid the psn downloader complain about firmware version.
Instructions: just copy seplugins to the root, and activate the plugin in recovery.
The plugin will fake the version to the one contained in seplugins/usbversion.txt, which
by default is set to 4.05,but you can set it to other version.

So it basically tricks Sony into believing you're running OFW rather than CFW?
