A friend suggested that I try out IRShell so I went on the IRShell website to read up on it and it says on there that it doesnt support Gen CFW so is there a way to make it run on there?

IRShell Version 5.0 should run fine on D3.

irshell and gen does not mix well. using 5.00 m33-6 will be better for irshell.

the instructions at irshell.org is extensive. otherwise, you could ask questions in their forums - but i found it slow to respond. however, the best place to get info about irshell is at the original developers' site.

the instructions does clearly state the latest irshell (v5.0) is for 5.00m33-6, and specifically state that it has bugs running under GEN-X.

I dealt with this same issue recently.

from what I found there were two different patches for IRShell to work with GEN-D3 *I'm not going to post the link cause A) not sure where I downloaded them, but I think it was PSP Hacks and B) Google is your friend.*

But there is one that is a named GEN patch (by Yoshihiro i believe), filename refers to B2 but alot of people online were saying to use it for GEN-D3... it runs as a separate program that is supposed to 'self-destruct' upon first run and patching of IRShell. my advice is DO NOT USE (for more on this, search for my thread 'My IRSHELL Hell!!') it screwed with my firmware and i couldn't play a bunch of games, and it took (relitively) forever to fix.

Not sure if it's the patch it's self of Yoshihiro's or just the download that was screwy, in fairness I only found a couple of posts from people with the same issues I had. but in saying that whenever a GEN user complains, the response is usually to blame the firmware.

The other better one is just refered to 5.50 patch (by BossHunter, I think) you manually patch it like you would any other firmware for running ISOs (refer to IRShell forum). This is the one i used on both my GEN-D3 systems without a problem, IRShell appears fully functional.

....Oh what the hell. here this is the one you want: BossHunters Patch

    NOT: Yoshihiro's GEN Patch

    hope it helps.
