Default [TUT] How To Install Custom Gameboots

WARNING! You can brick your psp doing this!

I take no responsibility if you brick your psp nor do the site this is posted on

Always backup your flash0 and NEVER edit any other file in there, only if you know what your doing

This will may work in ChickHEN with CFWE. I managed to change a coldboot in ChickHEN and PSPFiler 6.0. Otherwise, i don't really know, others may confirm that if they wish

Heres some gameboots: Gameboots

What you need:
PSP with compatible CFW
USB cable
PC
Custom gameboot

1. Turn on the psp holding R, now your in recovery.

2. Go to 'Advanced', toggle flash0 with your usb plugged in.

3. On your pc, go to 'My Computer' (or what ever it is on your OS) then you should see some folders, go to 'vsh' then 'resource'.

4. On your pc again go to where you saved your custom gameboot then copy it into the 'resource' folder on the psp, it should come up with a pop-up asking you if you want to overwrite, click yes.

5. On the psp exit recovery and if it's not bricked, test it by going into a homebrew or iso etc. if it works, congratz, you installed a custom gameboot, now you can charge your friends to install gameboots!

Default [TUT] How To Install Custom Gameboots

Cheers bro, crisp guide. Just make sure not to alter any other file in your flash!! and do a backup of your original gameboot just in case.

Or you can use plugins. I made a guide on consolespot, if you want to check that out.

If you don't want to use one from flash you could always HEX edit the opening_plugin.prx.

Find this Line:
flash0:/vsh/resource/gameboot.pmf

Change it to read

ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/BOOT/gameboot.pmf

Then place the gameboot you want to use in PSP/SYSTEM/BOOT/

good for those big gameboots as you don't have to worry about F0 space..

But then what happens if you switch memory cards or your memory card malfunctions? What does the PSP do then?

Lord it's been so long since I made my coldboot (I had to hex edit it, but I didn't do like DFS said). I want to figure a way to make it bigger (before the text was to small to really recognize). Upgraded my firmware and now have to figure out how to do everything again (coldboot/gameboot/xmb theme) I still have all the programs, just don't remember the process, lol!

Yeah, I'm gonna have to do a lot of reading again. I remember I used RCOedit and gimp on the last one, but I want to make it bigger, so I may need a diffrent strategy. Mitochondria pointed me in a few directions last night. I'll post everything when done. I'll also have to try and get my favs from my laptop and old computer (had a crap load of sites I used to do my old one).

One thing i have never understood is why do these things never work with ctf files with gameboots..Not for me atleast.
It kinda kills the fun.

I personaly don't like coldboots/gameboots incorperated in my themes, I like to change them (even though I haven't in a few months) and I've noticed doing this with ctf you either have to change your theme or redo it.
