PSP not updating

I'm trying to update my PSP from 5.50 Prometh to 6.60 Pro B. When I try to run the installer on my PSP it doesn't support my "fw(0x05050010)" (whatever the hell that means). When I try to do an official update, it says I am running verison 9.90 and there is no need to update. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do?

You need to do the "GEN Bypass"

1. Press select to access VSH menu
2. Set USB DEVICE to "flash 0"
3. Connect to PC and search for the folder "etc"
4. Locate version.txt , open it , you'll see a number X.XX right beside the word release at the top
5. Change the number to 5.50 , save changes , exit USB mode
6. Set USB DEVICE to "Memory Stick"

Now update as you normally would either through network update or manually

after you do the bypass dont bother going to pro cfw. go to section 6 of my guide to update to 6.60 ME 1.6 which is the best cfw.
