Why not just rip it and play it as an ISO?

True, you should not be having problems playing a UMD. I would suggest trying a different firmware. 6.60LME would be the place I'd start. Make sure you get the LME and not just ME. ME will brick your PSP.

I agree with Slowman, but first run the PROUPDATE again and select "un-install". After thats done, format the memory stick(backup important stuff first)then use this:6.60LME-1.8 - Downloads - PSPMOD.com - PSP / PS Vita Forums

BECUASE: it'll hog, like, 1GB of your memory card??? I keep gta (the only non digital game I have that exceeds 1.5gb) on the umd, since I've heard that compressing gta lags it and I know for a fact that 1.5 gb is a large file, even on a 16gb pro-hg duo

Given the choice between a) having an empty 8GB card and listening to the UMD spin up every 5 seconds or b) having no room on my card and having instant load times for whatever game I'm playing...

    I'll choose b.

What does "umd Iso mode" mean again? Will this affect umds?

    It's called NOISE ISOLATING HEADPHONES/EARBUDS

I can never do anything on my pc without the 12 fans spinning in unison, so I have some pretty good anti-sound stuff in my room
