Im sure there is info on this somewhere but I'm having a pretty hard time finding it and I want to be sure of what I'm doing. Is it possible to mod a PSP 3000 on 6.6 so that I can run GBA emulators and/or play downloaded psp games? If so could anyone give me, like, a step by step guide on how to do it? Thanks.

Every PSP is now hackable, so it's possible. It's even easy. For a PSP-3000 you'll want to do the following:

    1. Upgrade to 6.60 official firmware if you haven't already.

    2. Run the 6.60 LME 1.8 Installer, then run the '6.60 LME Loader' under the 'Game' menu after it's done. You can delete the '6.60 LME Installer' at this point.

That's it. You're now running custom firmware. Go to System Settings and check

This is 'Lite' (semi-permanent) custom firmware. Make sure you install LME and not ME. Unfortunately, it is not possible to install 'Full' (permanent) custom firmware on PSP-3000s at this time, but the Lite variants work just fine so it's not really necessary to do so.

You'll need to run 6.60 LME Loader after every hard reboot. This only takes about ten seconds and is not a big deal. Note that you will not need to run the Loader if you 'sleep' the PSP. This is what I do and it works wonderfully; I almost never need to run the Loader.

In any case, this is true custom firmware and will allow you to run any homebrew, emulators, and ISOs you like. I run 6.60 LME 1.8 on my PSP-3001 and I love it. It does everything that Dark Alex's OE custom firmwares did on my PSP-1000 way back in the day.

Since it's just a light/temporary firmware, absolutely no chance of bricking your PSP. Have fun.
