The New XBox360 mobo to fight high-end PS3... what a bunch losers
New Xbox 360 Coming with HDMI port?
>> We received this image from a source who wishes to remain anonymous. An Xbox 360 motherboard with a HDMI-port, interesting ...
Our source has seen 3 of these motherboards already, so it looks like Microsoft might be working on a new Xbox 360 version with a HDMI-port. However it's totally unknown when/if it'll be released to the public and if this will be included with all packages or only on the Premium. Or, who-knows, maybe it'll be for a 3rd package ... maybe even with an internal HD-DVD drive after all, to compete with the high-end PS3? (but that's pure speculation and MS PR recently denied working on an internal HD-DVD).
A digital output would certainly come as good news for those out there with new HDTV-sets and it could be pretty useful for the HD-DVD addon too, certainly if those movies will ever be HDCP-protected (Image Constraint Token flag). However people who already paid $400 for their 360 might feel less happy if Microsoft releases this soon.

This is from Gamespot that i saw in Yahoo.com Xbox 360 promoted to Elite A new $479 black, HDMI-enabled, 120GB version of Microsoft's latest console will arrive on April 29; $179 120GB HDD add-on to be sold separately; Sony unimpressed.

Following months of speculation, Microsoft has officially unveiled a new version of the Xbox 360. Called the Xbox 360 Elite (pictured), the console will go on sale in North America April 29, with European and Japanese launches later in the year. In the US, the console will retail for $479.
As previously hinted at on many forums and blogs, the new console will have a variety of different bells and whistles than the traditional Xbox 360. It will indeed feature a 120GB hard drive to better accommodate game downloads from Xbox Live Arcade and video content from Xbox Live Marketplace. The news coincides with the announcement of a new batch of television and movie partners who will offer content on the service.
The Xbox 360 Elite has a "premium black finish" which matches the wireless controller it comes with. (Controllers and rechargeable battery kits with the same hue will be sold separately.) The console will also sport a matching black wired headset and, as widely rumored, an HDMI output port. The console will come bundled with an HDMI cable as well as a component video cable.
One thing the console will not come with is a data transfer cable, as had been rumored. However, a standalone, $179 120GB drive for the console will be released alongside the Xbox 360 Elite bundled with a data transfer cable. The cable will allow for the transfer of all Marketplace downloads and game saves from an existing 360 hard drive to the new hard drive.
According to Albert Penello, Microsoft's director of global platform marketing, the old hard drive will be blanked following the data transfer and can then be attached to any other 360. "The standalone drive is the main option we're suggesting to existing Xbox 360 owners," he told GameSpot.
So what about HDMI-craving HDTV owners who want to get an Xbox 360 Elite and transfer their current XBLM content to it? In one word: Wait. Penello said that Microsoft is "working on a solution" for transferring data from current 360s to Elites, but would not elaborate.
Hardware-wise, Penello said the Xbox 360 Elite has the same disc drive and processors as "current models." He also confirmed it would not have an internal HD-DVD drive, as some had suspected. "We don't want to segment the user base," he told GameSpot. He also confirmed that the external Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive would not be available in the Elite's black finish for the foreseeable future.
Another thing the new console won't have is Internet Protocol TV functionality, which Microsoft announced it was bringing to the 360 platform at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. "[IPTV] trials will start this summer," said Penello, who didn't have a start date for the service.
As for the fate of the current hard drive-less $299 Core Xbox 360 and 360-equipped Pro Xbox 360 models, Penello said they would continue to be offered. He also confirmed the new model will be a permanent addition to the 360 product line, and not a limited edition.
The fact the Elite is only $20 less than the 20GB PlayStation 3 and does not have next-generation video format playback did not go unnoticed by Sony. "We think every PlayStation 3 owner should have an 'elite' experience, which is why we include an internal hard drive and HDMI output in every PS3 we sell, along with the 50 GB of storage capacity on a high definition Blu-ray disc," said Peter Dille, Sony Computer Entertainment's senior vice president of marketing. Sony also issued a series of talking points asserting that the release of the 360 Elite "further validates the PS3 business model, which [Microsoft] criticized at launch."
For more details on the Xbox 360 Elite, check out this complete examination of the console.
I almost feel bad for those old 360 owners... they just getting tossed around like Richard Simmon's old ***y videos for Billy Blanks workout crap... but i still prefer my Girls Gone Wild... which is the metaphor for the PS3! |

WTF,
okay so new x360 coming out with a HDMI port and no HD-DVD drive ... excuse me but WHAT THE HECK IS THE USE? okay great so i have a HDMI cable to hook to my 360.... and i have to pay 479 bucks to get the new one + another 200 to 300 for the HD-DVD drive so that works out to what.... 700 to 800 bucks (yes i know my math is off) VS i could just get a 20gb ps3 for 500 and have a HDMI ready system that plays better then HD-DVD quality movies.... when it comes down to it i personnaly think microsoft is worried and they didnt toss it in the system because the system would have cost over 700 bucks. way to go guys!

HDMI is the standard hd connector for everything hd. Everything that can support hd that is less than a year old will most likely have hdmi.
M$ has made a sad attempt in my opinion, bashing the Ps3, and saying that they are not worried.

HDMI is the type of port required for TRUE high-definition. The component cables Microsoft uses now is not quite high def. I have no use for one since i dont have a HD tv. but the system looks bad ass in black. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hdmi
I saw this coming from the year the Xbox360 was released. The simple fact that it was released 1 year earlier then the rest of the next gens was enough warning for me to see what was going on. This is Microsoft's way of getting more money and more output on a shitty product. They sell their first one without an HD DVD claim its a next gen, then release the HD DVD add-on which means more sales, then they redo the system with HDMI but no add-on.. lol... Anyone catching on whats next.... I call it a shitty product cus i don't support microsofts' business practices (yes i run windows unfortunately) but that doesn't mean shit when the market tells the story.....

HDMI needs to be on the motherboard unless you get some funky modchip to do the job. HDMI basically makes it run on Hi-definition tvs or whatever. It cant come as an add-on... sorry... actually not really since you got an xbox and they're stealing the screwed up DMC4 that features a nub charater named Nero... they ****ed up big time... it was fine that they share it to different consoles but Nero?! I HATE EVERYBODY NOW!!! |

HDMI is just some crap that lets the console (360 and ps3) to play whatever crap you put on them be seen on hi-defenition TVs. Basically the whole 1080i resolution or better.
Yeah, it does suck that they give the HDMI whatever but not add the HD-DVD drive... but thats what happens for the whole "compatibility" thing. |

thats why im glad i never got a 360 cause i would want HDMI especially after experiancing it with my PS3 & holy shit its way better with HDMI compared to componet cables. I'll stick with my PS3 instead & say screw XBox 360 this generation, last generation i was opposite i was with XBox & said screw PS2 cause of the quality and what each system had but this time Sony brought the best

hey M$, why offer so many packages? why not make more games for the damn thing? i don't play first person shooters therefor couldn't care less about halo 3, so overall the system has about 3-5 good games, depending on your game prefrences...who cares about HDMI or an HD-DVD addon, just make more good games for the ppl that bought your system!
PS: please stop trash talking the ps3, if you beat them in the console wars, then it'll make you look juvenile, if they beat you (more likely), it'll make you look even more pathetic |
