Default PSP internal harddisk mod!

PvP of Acidmods has created an internal harddisk mod for the PSP. The harddisk comes from a 30Gb iPod and replaces the UMD drive. Since connecting the harddisk internally, which would be much nicer for the eye, causes problems with PC connections, he routed the harddisks USB cable through a hole in the UMD door to the external USB connector. Additional hardware (a small PCB) was needed to make it work as a usbhostfs compatible device for iRShell.

That looks like too much work... I didn't even know they made HDDs via a 5-pin USB slot...

considering the guy who claims to have done this is not even replying to his thread about it... im guessing its either too hard to explain-how to do it... or its just not working properly! guess will just have to sit back and wait to see how it goes!

STOP POSTING THIS AS NEWS! Seriously, there's an identical thread a half dozen posts down and probably a dozen more on this site.

Give me a week and I'll post a REAL internal HDD mod that will actually be acheivable by the average person. No offense, but I doubt anyone here has the programming skills to accomplish PVP's mod.

Yea, its sorta old news but there are always people that still don't know. I still have a hard time believing this will work very well but meh, who am I to judge.

It'll be news when he finally releases a tut. As it stands now, it's a 3 week old proof of concept that's got more speculation around it than you can shake a stick at.

And as for telling me where to jump in, I posted this in the 1.8" HDD specs thread 5 minutes after it hit hackaday - IE, I was the first person to post this the day it came out. Since then, every illiterate and impatient noob around has reposted it as news a dozen times over in at least as many threads.

Sorry if I'm a bit critical about you guys, but it's basic forum etiquette to UTFSE before posting anything new. I've been roaming the internet for over a decade, and have avoided video game forums like the plague for this very reason - Unless the general topic matter of the forum is above and beyond what the average person would understand, noobs will invariably flock to the forum in droves.

I'm not saying that this is necessarily a bad thing, as fresh blood is always needed to keep things going. However, there should be some basic rules of etiquette here that the mods oughtta enforce...Primarily, cross-posting, whether on purpose or on accident, should not be tolerated, if for no better reason than to keep the forums clean and somewhat more professional looking.

And come on people...It's not like the last topic on this is hidden in the back, it's still on the first freaking page of this forum!
