Sony Wants To Know Why You're Hacking Your PSP
I want to take this survey. BETTER YET, I would rather Sony listened to its users. The truth is, if Sony wouldn't spend so much time HINDERING the functionality of the PSP, they wouldn't have this problem with Piracy. Alot of the devs hacked it for HOMEBREW purposes, not to pirate content. I'm not naive, I know people install CFW so they don't have to spend money on games, BUT I think more people use CFW to get around all the stupid things Sony does. For example programs like IRSHELL: It makes my psp TRULY FULLY FUNCTIONING. If Sony would've done this themselves through updates, there wouldn't be the huge pirating community that there is for one reason; The devs that cracked the firmware wouldn't have needed to spend countless hours trying to get around Sony's firmware security, just to design programs and aps. The devs could've been Sony's best friend, but because of stereotyping "hackers" they made them into their worst enemy. I don't condone pirating, but SONY DID THIS TO THEMSELVES.
EXAMPLE: Think about how many people install CFW for innocent and JUSTIFIED reasons like listening to music while they browse the web or just wanting to be able to read PDF's. Then they discover that with CFW they can download an iso from somewhere and play it without having to download or modify anything else, just download it and play. I'd say that makes it alot more tempting for someone who would never mod their psp JUST to pirategames. Sorry if pasting this is breaking a rule(maybe considered a double post?), this was my reply about this subject in this thread here http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-gen...ny-survey.html (what do you think about the sony survey) |

Im sure there will eventually be a way around that method, but i wouldnt really need to hack my psp if they let me do that. Just an idea though. |
1) I dont think there would be enough room on the flash 0 for all of the serial codes for all of the games one could play on the psp.
B) I cant think of anywhere that has psp games for rent
3) Someone will find a way to grab the serial code off of the flash 0 and leak serial codes online...so it will make the whole thing a waste of time.
D) It will only mean that to dl a game you will have to just borrow it from a friend or snag the serial code online. I personally dont even dl umd games, just old games for my emus anyways...but if i was really serious about dling a game online this would only be a small inconvince at that. |

I agree but just so you know you can rent PSP games. Either at a local blockbuster or gamefly. |

I dont have a local blockbuster, so that would explain why i have never seen a place that rents psp games. |

I have looked at things official firmware intends on doing...like programming the psp to run ps1 games...ofcourse..when custom firmware came out this was an outrage. But as soon as sony figured out a way how to market it its gonna be on official firmware. If u ask me lol its these same hackers that they blame that help them develop the system even further. Get a life sony and instead of giving modders a bad name learn from them...and by the way..if the definition of hacker is closely looked up on its not someone who intends on getting pirated content.... | I agree with you 100%! I said many of the same things in my post from the other thread. Quote:

Sony should do what Apple did. Hand out the sdk and let people make their own programs then send them to sony. If sony approves of it (as in it doesnt involve anything illegal) then they sign the code and publish it. The only downside to that is that emulators wouldnt pass the test, but it would be a great way to get the whole community involved in a 100% legal way.
I hope they send it to me. I want to fill this out. | I love this idea, except Sony would never hand out SDK's for psp, they are way too greedy to give anyone credit. They should've done this from the beginning and they wouldn't have so much problem with piracy.
Let's go back in time a little bit to when the psp was just coming out, Sony was saying how it was going to revolutionize handheld gaming because users would be able to develop their own aps for it. Now fast forward to today, had they actually done what they intended to, or at least what they made their users BELIEVE they intended, we wouldn't be here answering questions about "pandora this and downgrade that. We'd all be on a forum talking to devs suggesting what we'd like to see happen next for our systems.
I guess that's way too close to a perfect world. Maybe Sony stalled the end of the world by going back on their word. |

The point is to make the psp as usable as possible without allowing piracy. Its very hard to do, which is why most companies just completely lock you out of the device. Obviously there will be hacking, but they should aim to give the people what they want (which would be an iso loader) without allowing piracy so alot of people wont even find the need to mod, other than piracy.
