Sony steps in, takes Datel to court over Lite Blue Tool

Datel has just revealed that Sony is taking legal action against their service mode battery that advertised itself as a PSP-3000 hacking tool. This is following news of Datel's pulling out of the battery - the Lite Blue Tool - and changing its product description.
Actual specifics of the court case weren't revealed, however, this is the statement issued by Datel to PortableVideoGamer, in response to a query about why the orders for the battery haven't arrived yet:
Due to legal action by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe we are currently not able to fulfil orders for the Lite Blue Tool Battery. Any orders received for this product have not been processed and no charges have been made. We will inform customers about availability of this product when this situation has been resolved.
Current speculation over why Sony's taking legal action against Datel holds that they're building the case on the grounds that Datel is using proprietary source code from Sony (i.e. copyright infringement). Supposedly, it's this code that's used on the Lite Blue Tool that allows the "unlocking" of the PSP-3000. If Sony is now building their case on it, they could potentially say that Datel is infringing on their copyright because of their using of the software encryption key.
Thanks to Muffinly Bliss for the heads up!*Thanks to DarkProdigy for my new sig!

If Datel created the decryption key themselves, aka 'clean-room', then they have nothing to worry about. I doubt that they did, so look out!
was bound to happen eventually. should of never called it
as that breaks some user agreement/ contract thing you get with a psp.battery that advertised itself as a PSP-3000 hacking tool

does this mean that the lite blue tool can be used to hack ta-88v3??
Essentially, but since there is no custom firmware for that mobo or the 3000 mobo, not much can be done with it.Originally Posted by dragonking

It can put it into service mode but no MMS has been created for the new ipl thingy so its unhacking still.
at least we still have gripshift
well it was bound to happened. As for Gripshift I don't really see it going anywhere unless its able to access kernel mode.
Pleassssssssse GOD put DATEL out of business!!!!!

Take back my comment about gripshift. As it seems Team Gen has come up with an euro gripshift exploit that may allow you to access kernel mode, thus allowing the possibility of better homebrews, Emus and iso usage. But they have not release it. I cannot post a link up yet since you need to have 15 post but feel free to check up pspgen web site. hopefully D_A will get his hands on this and we might even see some cfw for the 3k!!!![]()

What good is service mode if you can't install cfw? BTW has anyone tested this battery from Datel?
from what i've heard it's a big fake, and isnt this a semi old topic?
