[Update: Hold your horses! We’ve been hearing initial reports that the HEN has been failing on several PSP’s (HEN loads, homebrew freezes however). There will be a new revision of the HEN released later tomorrow we have been hearing, so we suggest waiting off until then to grab the HEN]

Just a few moments ago Team Typhoon released a homebrew enabler for the Playstation Portable. This HEN (labeled as “ChickHEN”) will allow PSP owners to execute homebrew code on their PSP so long as they are not on the latest PSP firmware (5.50). You will need firmware 5.03 to run HEN (lower firmwares will not work). So if you are on anything lower than 5.03 you will need to update to 5.03.
Davee, along with Bubbletune and other PSP developers have been working hard and long to get this development out to the community and the day has finally come. You can check out how to run HEN on your PSP after the break as well as what HEN is incapable of doing.

How do i get the HEN to run on my PSP?
1. First off use the supplied TIFF image and place it in the PSP>PHOTO Directory.
2. Copy h.bin over to the MS ROOT and safely remove device.
2. Scroll over to the PHOTO icon on the XMB and click the ChickHEN folder and wait. (This will not work the first time, you may have to just use a method of loading that works for you but this is what we have found most efficient)
3. If all goes well the screen should blank out and flash green showing that the HEN is loaded and all is well.
4. Wait for your PSP to reboot and check your PSP's system software. It should now display: "5.03 ChickHEN".
5. Scroll on over to GAME and enjoy some Homebrew!

What ChickHEN does NOT do?
-Run ISO, CSO or any other form of UMD backup.
-Run PSX Games
-Touch The Flash of your beloved PSP
-Magically allow the use of Custom Firmware
-Load plugins

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site, and I want to give a big warm-hearted THANK YOU to everyone who made "ChickHEN". It may be new and needs improvements, but this is great news and leaves doors open to more possibilities! Best of all, I have the required 5.03 firmware, which I thought was suspicious to see on here since I just joined hours ago and mentioned in the registration that I have 5.03. But I've looked around and this site looks trustworthy. I must admit, I'm impressed! Keep up the good work!

i heard that it only work with the psps that they gave the mac adress to the developers, idk if thats the case but its what i heard

We just got word from Davee that two official updates are coming to ChickHEN. After releasing it last night with an unforeseen bug the team will be releasing an update today that will allow users to successfully boot homebrew and fix the wlan and mediasync issues. For those careful readers, revision is plural in the title. Another update will come at a later date which would add plugin support and test the network update.

What psp version do you have?

As excited as I am about homebrew on my PSP 3000, I'm also curious. In the opening post, you have explained all of current impossibilities. What -can- ChickHEN do? Will I be able to put emulators and apps on my PSP with it? Will I still be able to use my official Sony firmware, and WiFi, to be online? Will my mp3 and mp4 files still work, and can my PSP still play them with ChickHEN installed?
