Some of you probably have read this already. I read and copyed this from cnet news

.I wrote last week about Sony CEO Howard Stringer's comments suggesting Sony could have beaten Apple in digital music if only the had embraced open technology. While technology certainly could play a role in Sony's success, it's clear that the company needs a whole new way of thinking.

At a breakfast Thursday cohosted by the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and The New Yorker, Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton told the audience his not-so-inner thoughts about the Internet.

"I'm a guy who doesn't see anything good having come from the Internet...(The Internet) created this notion that anyone can have whatever they want at any given time. It's as if the stores on Madison Avenue were open 24 hours a day. They feel entitled. They say, 'Give it to me now,' and if you don't give it to them for free, they'll steal it."

According to WWD.com Lynton tried out another simile. Referring to the Obama administration's goal to spread broadband access without, he said, regulating piracy, Lynton made a comparison with building highway systems without speed limits or driver's licenses. "We do need rules of the road," he said.

Rules of the road are one thing, but these type of short-sighted, borderline absurd comments suggest a more systemic problem. Instead of embracing new technologies and delivery methods, Sony chooses to stick to the old, now failing ways, as evidenced by the company's recent $1 billion loss.

a few of the comments made a good point about Sony.

Sony always try's to be different.but in the wrong way's
    Sony memory stick
    Sony umd
    Blue ray
    beta

they could just embrace what is already out there and what people use.
Instead they always try to make something,so they can rule the Industry

And now that they have losed so much money. there blaming it on the Internet and Piracy.

    Hahahahahahahaah
Serves em right! I have used sonys "sonic stage" years ago and that was an abortion. Instead of using the industry standard they try and create their own methods and get screwed. If all else fails, blame the consumer, and moan about piracy. Again.

Sonic stage was the software that came with sony's music player.
and apparently it sucked. And of course Sony came out with there own form of compressed music files, called Atrac. and you could not put mp3 files on your Sony.....and converting Atrac to mp3 was a lengthy process.
ATRAC is the generic name for audio compression technology developed by Sony Corporation.

Sony ms...it is there own type of memory stick.

Memory Stick Duo was developed in response to Sony's need for a smaller flash memory card for pocket-sized digital cameras, cell phones and the Playstation Portable. It is slightly smaller than the competing Secure Digital (SD) format and roughly two thirds the length of the standard Memory Stick form factor, but costs more.

Blue Ray may be fine......but it is not catching on very quickly.

Sony comes up with there own version of everything.
I think it is because of greed and they want to rule the market.
It is not working for them, there loosing money.
So they are blaming it on the Internet and Piracy.

Oh and with sonic stage (if i remember correctly) you could only rip a song like 3 times or something before the program stopped it. So basically sony was stopping you from ripping a song from your OWN cd? thats how stupid and awkward the sony pillocks were!
