PS3 price drop starts tomorrow in US - PC Gaming, PlayStation, Wii, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, News, Reviews, Downloads, Custom Apps, Homebrew and much more.
The PS3 Slim isn't the only PS3 model that's coming in at under US$ 300 at retail. In accordance with all of the rumors, Sony has announced a price cut for all PS3s currently available in the US market.
Effective tomorrow, all PS3 systems will get a US$ 100 price cut. If you've been waiting to buy a PS3, now's the time. All that's left now is to see how this price drop will help Sony's sales, as well as what Microsoft will announce to counter it. PS3 Slim confirmed, dated, and priced - PC Gaming, PlayStation, Wii, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, News, Reviews, Downloads, Custom Apps, Homebrew and much more.
It's officially real. The PS3 Slim, that is.
Kaz Hirai has announced during Sony's GamesCom conference that the PS3 Slim -- it's a PS3, but slimmer! -- will be available in stores starting the first week of September, although rollout dates will vary by region.
The features in the Kmart listing, particularly the 120GB HD, are pretty much the same as currently available models, but the Slim is 33 percent smaller and 36 percent lighter. Price point has been set at US$ 299 / 299 Euros / JP¥ 29,980. Amazon.com: PlayStation 3 120 GB (Slim): Video Games

my buddy told be about this the other day I was like "WTF" Slim PS3 already? I read that the Xbox was gonna go slim before the Ps3... oh well... So I saw the video, it looks pretty cool... I got my 80GB fatty still, but that 120GB sounds nice...
then again I can always just buy a new HDD. 500GB for $100. The only thing I do not like is the buttons... no more cool run your finger over the fancy nubs, now you have to push down on a cheap button... What about the Over heating? the old fatties have I think two fans. How would it keep cool if it 33%? smaller? smaller fans? I don't even see any slits for air to pass through... they should have atleast added 2 more USB ports... I can understand there is no way in hell B/C is gonna be happening on this anytime soon.... or at all for that matter...
I can only cross my Fingers that God Of War III comes with a Special Ed of GOW & GOW2 on BluRay
