How To Have Custom Background And Wave!!! Guide

Its late right now, but i will make a guide tomorrow.

THIS IS FOR SEMI-ADVANCED PEOPLE, not suggested for BEGINNERS.

IM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKING OR NTOHING, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. PLUS IM GONNA MAKE ONE WITH PICS.

Heres the just. I only know it works for 3.03 oe-c

make sure you already have a backup 01-12.bmp and copy this file.
MAKE A NEW FOLDER IN THE C DRIVE< AND HAVE YOUR 01-12.bmp FILES READY, THERE IN YOUR VSH

1.Take the original 01-12.bmp and seperate the files using = PSPbgSplitMerge

put these files in c:/newfolder/01-12.bmp

use the program to seperate them - c:/newfolder/01-12.bmp should be the link

google it or sumtin, they have it on lots of sites for SPLIT MERGE

once u have 01 - 12 seperate files you are closer, they should be in
c:/newfoler/split 01-12.bmp

2. OKAY HERE IS THE TRICK, you can only have one picture so choose good, and make sure you already have a backup 01-12.bmp

Take some image that has good resolution.

My original image is 1024 x 768 , but i shouldn't matter aslong as it has good solution.

***Take the image in Adobe photoshop and AJUST ITS SIZE ***
3. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT - MAKE IT 480x272

3 and a half .ONCE THIS IS DONE you can trick the split merge program.
SAVE THE FILE AS 01** and it should be a PNG FILE** on your desktop or sumtin

4. Then close Adobe, go on the desktop and change the filename to
01.bmp * IT SHOULD STILL BE PNG FILE

5. PLACE THE 01.BMP - png file into the folder where u have the split files 01-12.bmp, (c:/newfoler/split 01-12.bmp) ,you should delete the 01.bmp (original file) and replace with your new file 01.bmp (PNG) (c:/newfoler/split 01-12.bmp)

6. USING THE SPLIT MERGE PROGRAM AGAIN

locate c:/newfoler/split 01-12.bmp as your link target

MERGE THE FILES

7. REPLACE THE FILES ON YOUR FLASHO, called 01-12.bmp

TO HAVE ICONS APPEAR, CUSTOM ICONS MUST BE THERE, AND ADD YOUR WAVE.

it doesn't have to be custom firmware 3.03 oe-c to use this...i have custom backgrounds on my 3.10 oe a'...

yeh, the only thing 3.10 doesnt do is the icons(it semibricks).

when you have a white box try resize to 40x249 it works perfect for me and i have 340oea

i tried this however 3 of my XBM icons do not appear now, only System and Pictures appear and the rest are non existant.
what have i done wrong, the wave appears ontop of the wallpaper and looks fine though.

why are the icons not appearing, can you shed some light?

all you need to do is take a bmp file and
knock it down to a small resolution still equal to 480 x 272
name it 1-12.bmp
and replace the one in your flash0
also change your color to the pic of your bg
the pic should be around 140kb or lower if it
fails make it a lower resolution thats how i got
mine in my sig

your pic is too big it cant be a honkin 300kb look at the origional file's file size it cant be much bigger than that.

try knocking it down to a smaller resoultion equal to 480x272

also you may need to set the theme color to the pic of you bg
also the theme and bg should all say original

my pic is 88kb, 480X272, i have also tried smaller resoloutions too in the same scale, so im not sure size is the problem, im thinking that my theme maybe too complex so the memory cannot handle it. Looking at your theme it is very simple.

in the guide it says save as jpeg and then change the file extension manually to .bmp. i have done this too and it makes no differnece.

so i did lol, why does it matter that is is old, some people may not have seen this before and is quite interesting to do.
