I don't know how many of you already know this or really care, but I was messing around and stumbled across this cool little find. At least i thought it was cool and i've never seen a post that tells you what i am about too.

If you are running FW 3.03 OE-C, then this will work for sure. All others you will have to test out.

To get a perfectly sized and formatted background for your psp...
    1. Put any photo, can be any format, any size, doesn't matter into your photo directory on your memory stick.
    2. Go to the photo menu and open the photo
    3. While photo is opened press triangle and save as wallpaper
    4. Hold the power button on your PSP for 10 seconds until the PSP is completely off.
    5. Start the PSP holding the R trigger to boot in recovery mode
    6. Go to the advanced menu
    7. Toggle USB (flash1)
    8. In USB flash1, go to, ms0/vsh/theme
    9. Inside that folder will be your photo in perfect size and format
    10. Copy that picture to your hard disk and wherever you can acces it
    11. Rename it to 01-12.bmp
    12. Toggle USB (flash0)
    13. Inside USB (flash0), go to ms0/vsh/resource
    14. Paste the new 01-12.bmp and overwrite the old one
    15. Exit out of recovery mode and start your psp
    16. Go to Settings, theme settings and turn off walpaper

If the background doesn't show up, go to settings, then theme settings, then check the 12 different positions, one of them will show the picture. And yes by doing this the waves will be in front of the picture.

I don't know if this will be helpful for anyone, but for those of us who don't have photoshop and can't just change the format and size that easily, this works very well and is easy...

lol, where did it come with the psp? I don't remember getting that program, although i did order my psp from malaysia or some crazy ass place like that cause i wanted a white one. And all the instrucions were in weird languages. So maybe i did get it but discarded it cause i couldn't read it...

EDIT: but i don't remember getting it with my black one either...weird

This has not worked for me, is there any specific way you have to label the background?
Edit: NVM I guess I screwed up somewhere, I tried it for the 3rd time and it worked. Thanks for the guide.

but its so much easier to do it in ms paint, and make your dimensions 480 by 272 or whatever. that way you dont mess with your flash0 too much.

also, if you have powerpoint, you can do all your template and image work through there.
