Needing some assistance

Hey everyone, I would be concidered a "noob" in this part of technology. Before I posted this I did some research on psp firmware and what I need to do to run a homebrew game/app etc. Currently i'm in the situation where my psp is on firmware 2.81 since thats how it came out of box. From my understanding i needed to upgrade to 3.03 so I can do the GTA:LCS (ver 2.0 firmware) exploit to downgrade to 1.5. My question is once i get to 1.5 and hope I dont brick the psp, do I upgrade to the 3.03 oe-c and solve all my homebrew issues? Another thing I noticed was some reason an AVC mp4 movie I had didnt run and I had to convert it with PSP video 9 software, is this because my firmware isnt meant for homebrew or too old?

Once you get 3.03 OE-C all your homebrew issues are history, just make sure you backup everything on your mem stick and reformat it, then put all your homebrew applications in the GAME150 folder.

Thank you very much, now the only issue i'm going to run into is finding the unpatched version of GTA:LCS

You'll have to buy it of Ebay or something, I don't think you're going to find unpatched versions in a store.

Joe, you said you converted a movie to put on your psp...where did you put it on the memory stick?

On another note, since you are a new member, try swinging by the INTRODUCE YOURSELF section and posting a thread...Welcome to the forums man, and good luck finding an unpatched version of gta...where do yu live maybe a fellow member can lend you a helping hand by letting you borrow thiers if they are nearby...

Hey Apathy

Regarding the MP4 video, i fresh formated my 1 gig memory stick because i was doing a lot of experimentation last night on the psp. I converted a AVC mp4 using that PSP video 9 software and it resulted in two files. one that was whatever.mp4 and whatever.thm, i moved those into the standard video directory on the memory stick. Keeping in mind this is the sony ver 3.03 firmware. To my suprise when i turned on my psp i went to the video option and it played the video.

Now i'm not sure if this is a fluke or it was meant to work that way. I will keep people posted with my video conversions and if they work by putting them in the standard video folder on the memory stick

I'm currently living in Canada, Ontario close to toronto. I'm goin to browse arrund some flee markets and some EB games for a used version of GTA:LCS. Crossing my fingers i may get lucky and find one.

Yea your video's are supposed to work like that it was no fluke...

make sure you ask to load it in your PSP first, and make sure it has the 2.0 update on it... becasue used ones could be 2.6 and you cant downgrade with that one..

Hey everyone
Id like to say im one lucky SOAB. I went today down to my local mall to a few stores and stubled accross a EB store. The EB store did not have the original and the dude at the front desk was nice and wasnt being an asshole unlike the other EB i went to. I went to the last EB in my area and kindly asked the clerk at the front desk to see if they had a used version of the game. He said no some kid came yesterday asking for one, i said fair enough and i proceded to look arround their used section. I went and said to the guy i'm like hey look you have an older original for 19.99. He said yeah but only greatest hits UMD comes with it, i'm like really? so you throw in originals with greatest hits? he is like by mistake ... i'm like i want to buy your original of this because i'm a "collector" he is like to me "bull shit ur a collector we dont support downgrading PSPs" my father was with me because he wanted to see what the fuss was about for this game. he then goes to the guy and was like excuse me? ur claiming to me that i'm a lier and making such accusations? my dad was going to call the police because he was getting violent .. I pulled him off and spoke to the guy again. I said listen do you want to get charged for something stupid like this? I said come to my house i'll show you my collection of originals ... now i know you have the original back there. So he is like fine i will sell it to you but i never want to see you in my store again. I'm like funny, i'm sure ur manager would like to hear that from you and then fire you on the spot for your actions. He ended up selling the game to me, just got home tested and it is the 2.0 update.

i dont know why they dont support downgrading?!?

all my sotres ive been to are cool with it, hell ive even taught them to downgrade lol... only one store complained, and it wasnt really a complaint, i asked to swap my 3.03 with one of their used PSP's, and hes like "sorry we always upgrade the PSP's when we get em used"
i knew it was bullshit, but still everyone else i talk to at my local ebgames loves me, they help me with screen protectors, i downgrade their PSP's and how then all the new spiderman 3 shit lol, i guess it depends on where you go and how old they are.... kids usually tend to be col with downgrading

this is awsome, i didnt brick the psp!! success.
I downgraded from 3.03 to 1.5 and i'm quite happy with myself.

Now my question is do i just go directly and upgrade firmware with custom firmware to 3.03 oe-c?
also to do this from 1.5 to 3.03 oe-c do i need to format my mem stick then do the update or can i just copy files over mine on my mem card after downgrading from 3.03 to 1.5 ?

yes you can upgrade straight to 3.03oe-c and its is important to formatt your memorycard.

Yup the ebgames in my area, the dudes that work their mod their PSPs too, so they were cool and helped my little bros find PSPs with 2.71 so they could DG...

Yea check the threads Joe, there are plenty of threads about the "EASY 3.03OE-C UPGRADING", now you just have to decide what you want to upgrade too. Most of us on the boards still use 3.03OE-C due to the customization, althought Zinga Burga did just crack 3.10OE-A and made it customizable, or you could go with 3.30OE-A for the PSX games support...read the threads for more info

guys i'm having an issue

my ver 1.5 it was not showing my screen ... it keeps shutting off the screen and then it was working so i continued with the update

after that it screen wont show on me :S

what do i do now?
