I looked at the firmware sticky but I'm not quite sure if 2.71 can run homebrew.

Is it basically the same as 1.50? Can you run emulators?

No you have to downgrade to 1.50, then i would reccomend upgradin to 3.40oe-a or 3.52 m33 from there.

I have a TA-082 motherboard... so I probably can't run homebrew then, huh?

    Or have I been misinformed?

He technically can run homebrew on 2.71, but nothing is really for it.

You need to get the 2.71 TA-082 downgrader, it's fairly simple and one of the safest downgraders out.
