Downgrading 2.6...

Hey, i'm gonna downgrade my cousins psp, and it has 2.60. The thing is that i need the "downdater files which you must obtain from a firmware 1.5 user". So the thing i want to ask is, if i change my kernel to 1.50, and then copy the 'downhelper' files onto my psp, and run the program, will it work, or will i get a brick?

The instructions are:

The only files that are missing from this version are the downdater files which you must obtain from a firmware 1.5 user. Here's what they need to do:

1. Copy the folders downhelper and downhelper% from the folder 1.50 HELPER folder to /PSP/GAME/ in your memstick.
2. Obtain the 1.50 update EBOOT and put it in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE in your memstick. You may find the 1.50 update in our download site here.
3. Init the downhelper program.
4. It will dump your flash and some files from the updater eboot to the memstick. (These files are illegal under US copyright laws, so please do not distribute them in the comments or on our forums)
5. After that, the program will exit. You can now delete the updater from /PSP/GAME/UPDATE
6. You'll notice that you have a new folder in the root of your memstick called "DOWNDATER".
7. That's the folder you'll have to send to a 2.50/2.60 to let them test the downgrade.

Also, in step 3, it says 'init the downhelper program', does that basically run the program?

Dont use the 2.5/2.6 downdater there is a high chance that you will brick if you dont know what you are doing. The safest way to downgrade a 2.60 would be to upgrade to 2.71 and use the downgrader for that. Make sure you check your motherboard before doing it, so you can choose the right downgrader files.

hey dude!read carefully you might brick your cousins psp... u have the same version as i have before.. anyway update to 2.71 then downgrade 1.5 is a lot easier and safe.. then u can now upgrade to 3.40oe if you like.. used this then ul be up next this is from loomers staff: updateflasher.rar

now i hope this is not a bad post...jst trying to help.. another thing go to custom firmware check out loomers staff just follow instructions..k?

I just updated it to 3.03...and as he had a unpatched version of GTA:LCS...I used that to downgrade it......so now its running smoooothly on 3.52 M33!
