Well, basically I like how the PSP shows the UMD when there is one in there. But I don't have the money to buy UMD's. So I have iso's. Basically, is there a way to make the PSP see an iso as a UMD?

No you cannot, since a UMD holds optical information and an iso holds digital information there's no way of doing so.
And please man. You are implying that you are downloading them. "But I don't have the money to buy UMD's. So I have iso's."
That's piracy! If you don't have the UMD then how do you create a legal backup ISO? ... take this as a plea from me man. Don't do that.

EDIT: I'm sure even if you could not get an outright answer you would just look at other threads and indirectly learn how to use it anyway, so I might as well tell you you could just create a folder called ISO in the root of your mem stick and then put your ISO inside. Even simpler you could just use a cfw and format your mem stick then voila all the necessary folders would appear in the root of your memory stick.
    1. ISOs in ISO folder.
    2. mp4s in mp_root folder, with the format M4VXXXXX.mp4
    3. Homebrews in your Game or Game150 folder inside PSP
    4. Saved games in the Savedata folder
    5. mp3 in Music folder, you can have another level of sub folders inside as well.

That said, I hope to clarify your doubts a bit; BUT heed my advice: if you downloaded a game and find it to be good, please go buy the UMD. You buy a game not to just make game producing firms rich but also to fund their next project. Who would create games to suffer a loss from it? Please. The power is in your hands. Don't let it corrupt you.
    Peace.

Alright, so it was kinda badly thought out. I'm in China, so I don't download them, there's this shop that sells about 5 iso's on a DVD. That's where I get them.

You need a modded psp, put the ISO's in the ISO folder, it will play like a regular UMD.

that's still piracy, but i think in china, because of the free trade laws, it's legal, isn't it?

Yeah, I guess so. I just won't be able to bring them back to Australia when I go back.

Yeah the people here are real experts on the subject, only that they are perhaps too tired to repeat answers to questions that are answered again and again.
Ok, by modding you could go to the search button and look for keywords "downgrade" and "custom firmware".
But, if you get ISOs over the net it is illegal.

    And here's one to Adge.
I spent at least a year studying the free trade law in China and I haven't seen a clause that states "it's ok to steal intellectual property". And even if you get it on a DVD, CD, hard disk or whatsoever it is still illegal.
You know what's the right thing to do man.

I only got a couple of CD's with them on. Basically the reason I asked was because my brother has some UMD's and I basically ripped them as ISO's. I don't download them unless ripping doesn't work and I want a backup.
