Issue playing R1 UMD Movies on Jap 3.40 OE-A

Just realised might have originally posted in wrong section, so here it is again, apologies if this "breaks the rules" and please delete whichever is in wrong place.

I have a Jap PSP with 3.4 OE-A. I have been into the config, enabled Free Region (and tried forcing it to American) but nothing I do seems to enable me to play R1 UMD's (have tried Toy Story and Incredibles). Everything else works as it should.

I have read that in some versions of Dark Alex's f/w there were issues with this but cannot find a definitive "it doesn't work in 3.4 OE-A" or a guide on how to get it working.

Please forgive me if this is a dup post, but I have searched this (and other) forums for some help but to no avail.
