    Hi all

I finally got around to updating my PSP recently to 3.52 M33 (I was previously on 3.10OE-A when I bought the PSP second hand) but as I'm still fairly new to this I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer.

    1. Being on 3.52 M33 can I set up and connect to my new Wifi router and / or Playstation 3?

    2. If I can set up Wifi internet access on my PSP with this custom firmware is there any risk of official Sony firmware updates being downloaded and replacing my custom firmware?

    3. I was thinking of updating further to 3.71 M33. What are the benefits and additions to this firmware over 3.52 M33?

    4. Finally is there any need to go to 3.80 or 3.90 M33. Is there a detailed list of features anywhere for each firmware release??

Many thanks for any help you can offer

    1) Yes definitely

    2) No, only if you do it manually yourself - you have to be the biggest noob in the world to do this

    3) If you were going to go higher, I would suggest 3.80 M33-5 - this has new added features e.g. PSP Radio, it has better compatibility with PSX games and homebrew as well. Also newer games don't work with older firmwares so being at 3.80 M33-5 should be high enough

    4) See above ^^

Hope this is ok for you

Thanks for that, it's very helpful.

Is there a reliable auto installer for 3.80 M33-5 out there going from 3.52 M33? I used an auto installer and a very helpful youtube video to get me to 3.52 M33 (I've always been a bit nervous about bricking my PSP) I didn't fancy attempting the manual option just in case I did something wrong!

If not do you know where I can find the best outline and description of how to update from 3.52 to 3.80 M33-5?

    Cheers again

you can do a regular update from 3.52m33 to 3.8 or 3.9m33
Upgraded My first PSP all the way to 3.51!!! Hell yea, then got online the next night and found out you can mod them, so I yelled as loud as I could with my inside voice WTF?!?!?!?! I sold it to some dork and bought a used one for 80 bucks... So 2 crappy nights and 80 bucks later!!!!!

    2.71>2.8>3.51 M33> 3.52 M33!!! Best 80 bucks I have ever spent!!!

    Thanks Dathan

Sorry to sound stupid but what do you mean by a regular update from 3.52 to 3.80/3.90 M33?

i think he means a manual update - i.e. downloading it and putting it in the correct folder.
Once you get to 3.80 M33, you can upgrade to a higher custom firmware via the Network Update feature

    Pretty cool eh?

Right I see. that is cool being able to update via the network. It's starting to make a bit more sense now thanks to you both. I haven't done the manual update thing yet so don't know what to do but I know there are plenty of guides about so I'll just find and follow one of them to upgrade manually.

I'm off to find the 3.80-5 update then, sounds like it is the one to go for.

    Cheers again for your help
