You must first update to 3.52m33, then 3.71m33, then to 4.01m33.
Hope that helped.

i saw an instruction on how to update cfw into 4.01 m33 at you-tube. i followed the instruction step by step. by the way my current cfw is 3.51 m33-7, the update folder contains two files 401.pbp & eboot.pbp, and put this update folder into my psps game folder. i was able to run the upgrade, message shown on my psp, unpacking done please wait....i'd waited for 30minutes nothing happens.so i turn off my psp, and check the firmware it still 3.51 m33-7. could someone please help me how to do it?
could help me please on how to install this? this is my first time to try upgrading my cfw, i'd been reading http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-fir...installer.html , he is saying about pandoras battery, do i really need this to upgrade my cfw into 3.52m33, then 3.71m33, then to 4.01m33?
no, the only reason you would have to go into 3.52 then 3.71 then 4.01 is if you had previously had 3.51m33. if youre just getting custom firmware now deffintily use that guide youve been reading.
