Firmware 3.90 TO CUSTOM FIRMWARE

Hi guys im back after a year away, i have been able to do alot of psps via gta disc and other ways untill today, i just brought a silver Psp slim with firmware 3.90 on it, i still have 2 already cusom firmware Fat psps so i can do the pandora battery trick on that when i understand it lol.
so im asking for help can someone give me a guide or help me have some success and not fook the psp up, i have original tigerwoods game 09 and it asks me to install 4.01 so if thats easier to do i can do that
