K so here is the question I got my items coming for my PAndoras battery and Magic Memory stick I got all the files I need set and ready for when I get my pandora battery.....my question is......I have a psp fat and when I start to put on the CFW can I start right with 4.01 or do I need to start with something lower and then update? What I am understanding is once I use my Pandoras battery I should be able to put on any cfw that I want.... Can someone message me and tell me if I am thinking this right? I am still a little confused....Thanks again!

With the right Installer, you have the choice between 5 common firmwares:

    4.01m33
    3.90m33
    3.80m33
    3.71m33
    1.50 OFW

So no, you don't have to go any lower firmwares before 4.01, and it's best to just stick with 4.01.

    Hope I helped

Ok, I've been doing some reading and still a little confused about the Magic Memory Stick.
I was able to load 4.01M33-2 but can't run any homebrew apps, so I ordered a pandora battery. From reading, it seemed like I will only use this battery once and then then after that it will sit unless I need to redo things. Is that the same with the Magic Memory Stick?

The way I understand it is the Pandoras battery is only good for modding your psp and the magic memory stick will be good as whenever you want to update your cfw

ThaPharmacist is right, the battery and memory stick are only for the modding/unbricking of your psp.
if you already have 4.01m33-2 then the installation was successful.. theres no need to redo. could be a problem with your settings..

So, more details. I actually bought my PSP in China. It's a fat 1000 and the first thing I did was upgrade to the 4.01m33. If I hold the R button on boot, I get the mod screen where I can change everything from the service menu.

I tried first using the install-o-tron but for some reason it does not seem to want to connect to my AP so I can't install anything from that.

Also, I have tried other homebrew stuff and nothing seems to work. In the menu on the psp I see alot of corrupted data icons.

Appreciate all the help. I did try reading for a few weeks before I posted anything.
