    I just bought a piano black psp slim 2001. When I open the battery it shows a serial number that starts with HU. firmware is 3.95. I tried to create the pandora by cutting line by the 19, then tried removing pin, but no dice (won't boot up on its own). I am thinking of buying one of those premade battery tools online, but if this version is unhackable then don't want to waste my money. I'll have to buy a new batter for this thing if I want to return it (looks like $40 at the store), or does it look like a fix will be made for this soon? Probably no way to know, right? Also is Dark Alex trying to hack 3000, and skipping this version or will the new hack fix both versions? Oh, and I don't have access to a hacked psp. Thanks in advance for any info!

    This is a digitally activated Pandora, restore it with square in the pandora menu or something (I forgot, do the option where it says "Restore pandora to original battery" or "Restore IDstorage keys" or whatever.) You do not need TimeMachine for this one. $11.71.

    DealExtreme: $9.50 PSP Unbricker Pandora Battery for PSP 1000/2000 (1800mAh/3.6V)
    This is a non-digitally activated battery. You will need TimeMachine to boot this one - it's just one extra step anyways, not that hard there are tutorials for it everywhere!
    $9.50

    Then, get a MMS

    Then, downgrade! n.n
    Choose the "4.01" option.

    After that, do a network update (it's patched, so it does hacked firmwares only!), and upgrade to 5.01 M33-3. Install TimeMachine 0.1 if you want to - that makes your pandora battery usable as a normal battery.

    And customizepsp.co.uk for custom themes (Current version of cxmb is 3.3, it works with 5.01m33)

    Oh, and if you have a Slim, get the Tool battery for the slim. Bewarned there are unhackable PSP's. What model is your PSP? If it's PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 TA088-V3 we have a problem. But if it came with less than 3.x you are okay.

    PM me for my email/skype for further info.

    This dosn't answer my question. I did the research and understand all this....I was just wondering if anyone knew if my particular psp could not be modded. Your pasted answer says any firmware 3.0 and below is good so according to this post, my psp won't work, but I've seen people with higher firmware work. I've seen different comments on the serial though....so I was wondering if anyone had a psp with a serial that starts with hu and got their psp to work. No offense but I see you have "another copy and paste answer". You cant just copy and paste your answer to every question without reading the question......it really doesn't do anyone any good. If you read my question, I already know about this pandora tool....my question was....will it work with my version

    Maybe:

    1.- Mother board -> "Oh, and if you have a Slim, get the Tool battery for the slim. Bewarned there are unhackable PSP's. What model is your PSP? If it's PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 TA088-V3 we have a problem. But if it came with less than 3.x you are okay.
    "
    2.- In pandora tutorials, you will find, if i remember well that, in some cases:
    Sony Original battery, but made in:
    Chinese battery -> No pandorable
    Japanese battery --> Yes
    OF 3.95 -> 4.01 m33-2

    Actually it's the other way around, I have a "Made in China" original battery that I made into pandora.

    Hey, I had a "Made in China" PSP-s110 battery as well, and I couldn't make it into a Pandora. Did the same thing as you did, but I also went as far as to try the one-wire hack. Nothing works on that battery from what I can tell (although I didn't have an already modded PSP to try the software mod on it with)

    Also, I just looked at my PSP Serial number, and it is also a PSP-2001 starting with HU serial. Mine, however, came with over 4.x.x firmware. The only thing you need to worry about really with your PSP is if you have a TA-088v3 motherboard, in which case you can't mod it until Dark_Alex or someone else comes out with the Pre-IPL coding for it. If your PSP was running 3.95 firmware, then you don't have a TA-088v3 mobo, because TA-088v3 mobo can only run 4.x.x firmware and above, according to Dark Alex.

    Your PSP is mod-able, just not your battery. I'm not sure if mine is mod-able, as I don't know what mobo it has yet (since it was already running over 4.0.0 firmware. Yikes!), but I will find out soon enough. As for your PSP, get yourself a Datel PSP Slim tool battery or some other working Pandora battery, and make a MMS and have fun. I just ordered myself a good ole' PSP Lite Blue Tool battery from codejunkies (Datel) and it should be coming soon. They work in both the PSP-2000's and the PSP-3000's and they can switch between pandora mode and regular, which makes them a very good choice because if you can't mod your psp (possibility in my case), you at least have a working spare battery for it. ^.^

    Let me know how it goes, and Here's some good links for ya.

    Hmm. I have a Piano Black Slim - It came in the core package on NewEgg, and it came with OFW 4.02, as well as the battery that can't be pandorized by hard-modding. Mine might not be moddable, as it may have the TA88v3 mobo inside, but I have to wait until my actual pandora battery comes in order to see if it really does have the TA88v3 motherboard or not. I sure hope that it doesn't have a TA88v3 motherboard inside, or I'm going to be depressed for like a month. This thread is making me feel better already though, because it sounds like chkm8 has the same PSP I have - same serial/battery and everything too, and his was running OFW 3.95, which means it probly doesn't have TA88v3, which means that if my psp is the same as his, then mine probably doesn't have TA88v3 either. Our psp's might have been made in the same factory even, just at different times. It was probably easier/cheaper for them to start flashing their PSPs with newer firmware than to start actually replacing their highly expensive machinery to make the new motherboards.

    if it's a slim battery, you're only supposed to cut the trace by the "19" NOT remove the pin...
    pandora battery? magic memory stick? get started here.

    have you ever heard the word "attribute?" / attributes describe God's got so many vibes, some of them i have to shoot / shoot - eternality just to start it off / OffTheTimeline, He was here before we started off...

    The only real way to check if it is a TA88v3 is to open your psp up and look at the motherboard's model number, or get yourself a working psp pandora battery to boot it into service mode and check the model. I would suggest getting a Datel PSP Lite Blue TOOL battery - they work as pandora, and if you flip a switch or something, they work as normal batteries again. I just ordered one. Get one, and try to mod it the normal way with MMS and such, and if that doesn't work, try out the TA88v3 identifier. If worst comes to worst, you have a TA88v3, and a spare battery.
    Check out these links -

    You do realize I did the 19 cut and it still booted normal. one-wire mod was the first thing I tried - I connected the two points with wire and some tape - it still booted normally, so next step. I removed the wire that I previously taped on, and cut #19 - All the way through, even tested it with a multimeter to make sure it was cut all the way through and was no longer connected. Still booted normal. AFTER #19 I cut the 5th pin. Pin was cut all the way through - it still booted normal. So, I thought maybe if I soldered #19 back together, and then tried it, (so there would just be the pin cut) it would work. Soldered #19 back together, so the only difference from regular PSP battery would be the pin, and it was still booting normal. (tested #19 with a multimeter again to make sure it was mended together properly)

    Yeh. I don't think its the battery im sitting in the same spot. My psp white accepts the pandora no prob (6 months old) I heard that 3000's weren't hackable so in case my white 2000 were to die ever (shit happens) then i'd have a backup and i've been trying to load CFW onto the black psp and it wont work. I can take the same memory stick thats in White psp put it and pandora in the black psp and nothing happens screen blank and power light on at this point I should hit X see some lights flashing on the left it does its thing then turns off but I dont I do the exact same thing same card same battery in psp white 2000 and it does the setup flawlessly and downgrades my psp. Black PSP is running 4.01 OFW. White was running CFW 5.00 M33-3 but as of 2 minutes ago just went back to 3.71 M33

    At work we're getting in a bunch of PSPs as a sales promotion.

    The first one I got had a serial number of HU1xxxxxxx fw 3.95 and this one was hackable.

    The rest had serial numbers of HU2xxxxxxx (don't recall fw version atm) and none of these were hackable.

    (The exterior box code stickers were AB01xxxxxxx and AB02xxxxxxx consistent with the HU serial numbers)

    Can anyone else confirm this?

    John

    I have 4 more boxes of ones i've hacked will look into this
    *edit
    have now looked at boxes and confirmed 3 things.
    #1. Yes all my previous hacked psp's AB01's (White, Blacks, Red)
    #2. The 3 PSP's I've not been able to hack are AB02's
    #3. All AB02 boxes open from the side and AB01 From the top (just going by the 8 boxes I have)
    Thanks jgfarrell I think this will make it alot easier for me and perhaps other users to spot easy to hack from the damn near impossible (maybe its possible but for me so far no)
    THANKS AND IM OFF TO THE STORE TO BUY SOME MORE
    wish me luck....
