if it came new 4.01 firmware its unhackable,however you can still try to see if this isnt the case by clicking the first link in my signature

Mine came new pre-4.01, I updated it to stock 4.01 via sony wireless thingy, researched psp modding, then flashed it and had 4.01 m33-2 running in less than an hour. (once I stopped procrastinating and actually began the project).
never had anything playstation before in my life. My first experience with one and less than two hours with my hands on it I was CFW-enabled. REALLY not that difficult with all the guides.

@Tronics: if you did the process right and still can't install CFW chances are you got the TA-88v3 motherboard on your PSP which can't be hack yet. btw, welcome to the club! (waiting club, that is)
